At the same time, I don't approve of Fowler or Michael Moore making jokes about it. Natural disasters are never a thing to laugh about, in my opinion. I've been through a couple of earthquakes here in California which pale in comparison in terms of amount of destruction. Even then, I could feel the physical and psychological impact. Not fun. The feeling of desperation that so many of these people must be feeling right now, I can't even imagine.
As for McCain's actions regarding the RNC, to his credit, at least he's addressing the brevity of the situation. I'd say he's playing his cards right. But at the end of the day, I worry about how sincere his actions are, along with the actions of politicians in general (Democrat or Republican) regarding this disaster. Politicians need to do what's right for the sake of being righteous. Not because it'll drive up their votes.

I seriously hope he was sincere when he said this. Although I totally agree with this statement, it's not going to change my vote. But it sure does add a level of respect in my book. |
