Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 700N TREX 700 - Blade grips/ Clutch broke!

Hello,
Is it just me or do all 700 blade grips change the tension on the blades according to outside temps.
In Sydney (AUS) its roughly 16-18'C outside and maybe 25'C in the car.
So when i pull the heli out of the car the blades feel a little loose. BUT if i wait half an hour they tighten up.
And by the end of the day (14'C) there tight!!
ps, does not effect the flight performance!

Oh, and my clutch went soft after 60 odd flights(couldn't start him soft), but still free when turning maingear.
After pulling it apart one side of clutch felt good the other a little loose.
Pulled on it some more and it broke off...
A new one fixed it and after another 8 flights all good!!

Apart from that all is good

regards,
David

Stuff.... more stuff.... stuff is good....

I don't fly a 700 but I guess depending on extreme temperature changes objects do expand and contract depending on the temperature. I don't know if going from inside a house at 73* to outside at 80* is going to make the grips expand/contract that much to change tension but it could be. I know when you are tightening your blade grips you can tighten the bolt and it will be too tight back off a slight hair and its too loose, you then have to ever so slightly increase til you get the right tension. So maybe the grips are that sensitive. I feel an experiment building.

I felt Dave's blades. It was amazing how loose they were at first and a while later how tight they were! I said to Dave "you tightened them didn't you??" He said no way!

It seems like there are more and more reports of clutches breaking. Have to wonder if it's not a material issue, but rather a clutch to liner gap issue.

mine went after 55 flights. I thought the gap was a bit excessive to my taste, so I'll redo the lining to my usual 10 thou per side.

I have always shot for 6 thou per side or 12 thou difference between the clutch size and inner bell size. I always spaced out my hirobo liners to achieve this and have had a great run with clutches. Too much clearance and they break the shoes.

i noticed the same thing the other day, but didnt really put much thought to it,i also noticed how hot blades get after flying in the sun for a while especially black blades, and the grips are black, so i guess with the tight tolerances the grips may swell just a hair, it dosnt take much heat to make aluminum expand

dude..wheres my heli?????ama#902014

Yes, 6 thou per side on freya clutches, works well.
but on Align , 6 thou is too tight and the clutch will grab quite a bit at idle. Hence the 10 thou per side. I have over 400 flights on my 600N with original clutch
