Hey guys have a quick and possible stupid question for you. I have a 600N i just got done switching it over to my new radio DX7 and my tail keeps hard drifting to the right. I use the 770 gyro with the 8900g tail servo. its in heading hold and the servo is centered up. it dosent matter what i do its the same problem. I also tried reversing the gyro with the switch on the gyro and no change im lost and dont know what to do please if you have any insight on what might be causeing the problem let me know im going to keep playing with it to see if i cant figure it out. thanks.

What channel is the gyro gain wire plugged in to on the RX?

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

After you switch on your propo and after the receiver, do you wait for a few seconds without moveing the heli until your gyro starts?
That could be a possible cause of drifting.

Either something isn't wired correctly or........, the gyro is bad?

It sounds like the wiring is out of wack? If you were able to reverse the gyro with no effect?(should have piro'd out of control). I would say recheck all of your wiring.

I'd rather be flying

I am not familiar with the DX7. I have the x9303 however, I do know if you connect it on the wrong channel or if its not set up correctly, you will get that same symptom. I ended up setting mine just like the directions state based on my transmitter (in the gyro menu) and it works very, very well for me.

tail isues

I let the heli sit for 5-10 seconds after i turn it on to get started. the gyro is plugged in on the rudder channel and the gear channel of my rx. im using the spectrum 7100 rx of that makes a differece. still havent figured it out.

as a test, you can try a differnet channel
if I recall correctly the gear channel is either off or on no in between. As I mentioned I used the Gyro function which just worked. Might be a similar issue for your reciever in that the signal from the gear is not right for the gyro. Anyway, try it on a dif channel only as a test of the gyro functionality. Might be it proves the gyro and servo are in good shape. Your answer will prob come from someone who has the same setup working.

I KNOW I saw this same behavior before associated with the gyro (and I have the same gyro) My guess, its the setup not the gyro (if that helps at all)

Check that other forum

Remember the gear channel is for changing HH and Non HH
you use dual rate to set gain I think. Again set up just like the manual calls out for the DX7

From what I have read the 7100r as the limiter on the gear channel, the gyro gain should be plugged in to the aux2 channel.

As for the gear being on or off, yep, but the epa adjustment is what sets the gain!!! So different epa in gear up and gear down or aux2 on or off!

Also the epa adjustment is not directly linked to % gain! Increase it until the tail wags then back off. It may be too low!

problem solved. im an idiot. had gyro to sense off aux 2, and gear channel to read aux 2. nothing was plugged into aux2. changed aux 2 to read itself, and made gear switch read gyro, amazingly flew like it should. this is why new guys need RR. thanks guys, agent orange posted this one for me, and its my bird!
