McCain's collaboration with the enemy caused many Americans to be captured or killed. The information he gave the communists about flight patterns etc helped the enemy shoot down many more planes.

Colonel Earl Hopper served 30 years as an Army Airborne Officer spending most of his time as an Intelligence Officer during the
Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Colonel Hopper has devoted his life to uncovering the truth about his son Earl Junior who is Missing In Action since his plane was shot down over North Vietnam in 1968.

Colonel Hopper was a founding member and Chairman of the Board of the National League of Families devoted to the return of living American POWs of the Vietnam War.

Patty Hopper, Colonel Hopper's wife, who specialized in research and analysis of POW related information for over 30 years. She is considered to be a private sector expert in government agency POW data bases, the flow of information, and how it is handled.

Rest in peace Col. Hopper. He passed away earlier this year, and yes he was a real person and not some mythical/fictional character made to damage McCain's character. McCain was the son of a Navy admiral, the grandson of a Navy admiral, and graduated fifth from the bottom of his class.

Right.

And I suppose his Daddy Admirals influence had him spend that time in the Hanoi Hilton to give him ratings during his Presidential campaign 40 years later.

Point being. Who cares if his Daddy was an influence during McCain's Navy carrier. His was a prisoner of war for 5 years because of that.

Don't you suppose that negates his Daddy's influence on his Navy Carrier? Or would you ignore it and still call McCain a spoiled Navy brat?

Frankly, I don't give a rip about those videos. I don't believe them as they have never shown up in main stream media. Some have it in for McCain and will attempt to use this kind of crap to diminish the suffering of being a prisoner of war for 5 years. No one is making a deal about that, even in a small way in public. Only guys like you and Lou are nutso enough to focus on that kind of character destruction, and only goes a long way to destroy your own credibility, because thats all you have. Or you are stupid enough to use it for character destruction.

Its pathetic.

You know. I will say this about Vietnam. I was there. I did not have tough duty. I was aboard a Guided Missile cruiser (USS Providence CLG-6). I was a store keeper third class petty officer. Trust me. Being a store keeper was not tough duty.

I did not like it. But, I was there because I got my draft notice and joined the Navy to keep from being a foot soldier in the jungles. Again, did not like it, so we stayed as drunk as we could, as much as we could.

The thing I remember most was coming home. There was no welcoming ceremonies. Nothing. The reason for that was the times we lived in and the lousy war and the protests. The first few jobs I procured after Vietnam were gotten with reluctance by employers because I was a Vietnam vet. I remember the look on their faces when I mentioned that I was a vet to this day. They took me on. But, with reluctance.

You want to know why? A large part of that is because of the bad feelings about the war and John Kerry. John Kerry's testimony in Congress convinced a lot of Americans that vets were simply baby killers, drug users, and just plain killers. Most of you have seen the videos of John Kerry's testimony in Congress being an outright traitor to his fellow soldiers in Vietnam. All for his own political ambitions. No other reason has ever been defined to me.

Thats the time in my life where I defined my political ideologies. From then on, I became a staunch Republican. Have been that way ever since. And also support our troops AND their mission.

Thats why I don't particularly care about clowns like Lou and TrexRookie coming on here and trying to destroy John McCain's character, and using his time as a prisoner of war to do so.

Extremely pathetic people and much, much worse than that idiot John Kerry. If John Kerry had ever got back to serve in the military after his testimony in Congress, he most likely would have been a victim of friendly fire. Accidentally, of course.

Sorry. Just had to blow off a little steam here on this.

Dear Mr. Sealerman

You have no concept or idea of what these great men indured. I doubt you are a military man but lets do some what ifs:
!) Signed confession. What use was it ? None, it was a lie written by the NVA and the world knew it, so it was of no use as a propaganda tool.
2) Flight patterns. Useless to the NVA and VC because flight patterns were mission dependent and changed at will
3) Violation of the military code of conduct ? No, because that was written based on the Geneva Convention rules of war, which the NVA and VC constantly violated.
4).Base location ? Not for McCain since he was based on a carrier and the NVA had no way of attacking his ship even if they knew it’s exact location.

I cannot think of anything that could be extracted by torture that would be of real practical use to the NVA or VC worth dying for.
And yes, I’m an AirForce vet from the Vietnam era. No, I was never deployed to Vietnam.

Now this was originally posted to Lou, but I think it is appropriate for you also with some rewording::
Have you ever been to the Vietnam memorial in Arlington and actually touched the wall ?
Have you ever been to a National military cemetery and looked at the rows of markers and touched them ?

I have, and I cry unashamedly for all these heroes who gave they're lives so we can have freedom.. I have friends names carved on that black wall in Arlington.

Please Sealerman, go to a military cemetery and walk among the markers, stop and touch some and read the names and dates Standing among the markers and reading names will bring a peace to you that you cannot understand. It won't change your political selection but it will give you a better perspective on what these men suffered.
Please Sealerman, do it, sit next to one marker and talk to him, put some simple flowers on the marker. It really will make you a better man, you will feel more calm and a better respect for vets, both living and those that are no longer with us.
