Anyone know who has straight 700N links for sale right now? I don't want to buy 3 bags of misery. Mine are so bad they bind on the back side of the Align servo horns. I was hoping to maiden it this long weekend but not a chance now. I can't believe how many degrees off these links are.

Yes

Hobby hut has them and heliproz and maybe grand R/C. try them and call even to make sure. If not go with so other brand and not Align just to get it up this weekend. I am sure you can find some somewhere not just Align ones. Do you have a LHS you can stop by and get some from even a raptor would work. Try some others. Good luck with it

The raptor one doesn't work unless you change the balls. Tried it myself, it is very diffcult to get the link onto the ball.

AFAIK, no other brands work unless you change the balls.

#61 on the 700N list and Proud of it.

I'm talkin about the plastic links part number HN7058. Stick a 1.5mm allen wrench in the threaded portion to see if the links are straight or not.

Someone tried the HN7058-1 links today and these are also crooked. For now there is no solution. People are reportedly flying this way though so I plan to as well.

Yep. Me too. Same results.

However, the thing still flies great. Just a little more difficult, and time consuming, to set up the head.

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

I hate with a capital H the align links.

Align...listen here....your links suck and are not straight....you need to fix them up straight away and give everyone new improved links that are drilled straight.

I have done two packs and can still hardly build my heli.

I am thinking about putting hirobo links and balls on the heli as at least they are produced correctly....never had one link bent on hirobo. (nor on my 600n for that matter)

Align probably will just keep quiet and start producing straight links someday...as if crocked links never existed.

When you buy a Align kit, there must be something that you have to Align.

I thought it was me , but now Im seeing posts on this issue . I dont think I had one set go on perfectly straight yet . Even though it is one of the least expensive 90's I cant see that many getting by QC .

I also have an issue with linkage rod C ... it measures 50mm and according to the build specs should end up with a spacing of 44mm which means you only have 3mm of rod into the link were as the rest are in at least 5 to 6mm into the link . The build pictures are inaccurate when measured with calipers ... come on Align , what if you didnt have calipers and built from the schematics . The link is still lose at 3mm in so I will most likely make up my own to ensure a more secure fit.

Unfortuantly I just built an Avant Aurora and went right to this kit and wow , what a difference in part quality and build . I renamed the 700 the lego copter cause everything snaps together like legos . This is such a pleasure to build after the Avant and actually finished the build in a day and that was taking my time .

Hopefully Align will ... well ... align there next batch of links to be straight .

DOnt worry about the links. Mine have been replaced by Align 3 times and every set is bad. Their QC is HORRIBLE. I cant wait until rocket or someone else has links that will fit.

I know these links are not straight but do they really cause a big problem in flight ??

Mine seem fine , would have been nice to see the links when made up with the rods straight but I dont think it effects any thing as the ball joint straightens things out.

Not judging by the number of them flying. However it goes against good building practice and we shouldn't have to suffer such badly made products. It's a shame as everything else apart from the misALIGNed canopy grommet holes was pretty damn good and it's unfortunate that such a low cost kit has built so well but is let down by some silly little things like this. It's expensive to replace all the balls and links to another higher quailty finish to fix the issue.

I agree Helinutnz ... guess its the perfectionist in us . Most of our club members has one if not two 700's . Depends on what you do for a living that can make you look at every little detail . I've been in the machanical field most of my life and now at 49 I expect that for the $$$ we invest . I started out working as hydraulic/structual mechanic on military aircraft and QC is not a compromise . As long as flight characteristics are not effected I also will not invest in changing them out .

Thats a fair call Gary.
Yes I have been a mechanic in a past life and now fly aeroplanes for a living. I was too slow as a mechanic due to being a perfectionist....LOL but I never had comebacks!
I will accept midly bent ones till align produces straight ones.
I can accept that for the cost of the kit but find it a little funny that it is such a small thing to get right when the rest of the kit is pretty good. I guess they know about it and are correcting the machine as I do have many straight one so I know they can produce them correctly.

Cheers.
Hows that 12X?

I want to reiterate

Mine are so bad they bind on the back side of the Align servo horns. They are unusable - it's not a matter of being anal.

I don't have a 700 yet, so I don't understand the problem. Can't you just replace them with Rocket City links, or are the balls an odd size??

Lucky you that are not in San Francisco.

When I moved to the beautiful Bay Area I mention the word STRAIGHT.. And few people told me .. Noooooo, you do not say straight here. it is forward...
