I use the liquid wrench stuff. I don't know if it is the same name but it comes in a yellow can and it's silicone spray. Works great for me.

I and others have used the Liquid Wrench brand for maybe more than 2 years. Never any belt or other parts degradation issues.

I know I once looked up the MSDS on it and there may have been one or more ingredients that were suspect, but possibly in small quantities.

I am comfortable in saying that I can't conceive of any problems from using Liquid Wrench's Silicone Spray. I'll back that up with a dozen electroplated golden quadroons.

I can't think of the word at this moment but they have these additives to them that prolong breakdown and wear and tear. You want the kind that doesn't really worry about the break down. Check the Finless build vids on Helifreak he explains it in better detail. Mine is the liquid wrench I just checked it out. It can be found at local hardware stores or wal-marts, and home depots. It is in a yellow and white can. Works great. Comes out as a thick foam then settles to a runny liquid. That way you can spray a lot at first get your belt coated then wipe away the excess.

I think a heli should be correct from the factory without having to do these things. I Dont think I will be hanging on to my 500 for long.

So I should spend $80 more dollars to fix an issue that is Align's problem to begin with? Wrong answer! Align needs to step up to the plate and admit they have an issue and offer a fix to all that are effected. Just like when they had an issue with the oneway bearing on their 600 that they claim was never an issue and it turned out to be the bearing sleeve. They offered no fix and didn't admit to the problem, but they did come out with a new sleeve part # .... Hmmmmm LOL

I can agree with this. The problem is also a safety issue, imagine if someone was seriously hurt or actual killed.

Yes Align should fix it. But getting a torque tube not only enhances performance, it is a cool factor of bling, it creates less drag on the motor, leading to longer flighttimes. (not a lot longer but still longer) it fixes the static issue and it is less of a headache to deal with i.e. no fraying belts, no loose belts and no lubing to worry about. Don't get rid of your 500 quite so soon. I have upgraded mine and it as smooth as silk. I love it. I'll never sell it.

B b bu but . . .

Align's corporate slogan for the RC division loosely translates as, "An All Encompassing Way of Life for Westerners."

In keeping with that policy, recent leaks from within Align's inner sanctum have verified that once the perfect helicopter has been designed and proven, the factory must then observe the mandate which proclaims, "no kit shall leave these premises with perfect parts that can be assembled into a problem-free end product."

Even further, one source has stated that 'we' are being taught a lesson.

All of us must learn to appreciate the art of the tinkerer. Embrace the defects and go boldly where so many have gone before. It's all just a monetary mind game.

Spraying silicone lube on belt = $3 and no stripped TT gears ever!
Torque tube upgrade = $80 and stripped TT gears on a tail blade tap !

Doing the math ..... Priceless

I too agree that align should admit to and fix the problem.
But the reality of real life steps in and slaps us silly. That's why it takes an act of congress and a regulatory committee to FORCE the auto makers to have recalls and fix them. I vote for a regulatory committee to force every business to step and do the right thing.
Until we get that kind of business structure I guess I will continue pay $5 a gal for fuel and replace defective parts on my toys.
