Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 700N 2600mah Li-Ion for 700N?

I've been using 2600mah Li-Ion packs in my 600Ns and really like them. Anything wrong with using these in a 700N? Here's my proposed setup:

AR7100R receiver/regulator/limiter
Spartan 760 gyro
3 8717 (cyclic)
1 8900G (tail)
1 9254 (throttle)

These packs are rated for 6A continuous and 9A burst which should be more than enough current. I have quite a few of these packs and have never had a problem with them. I see that many 700N fliers are using 2100mah Lipos...

I don't see anything but longer times between chargers for you.

I'm laying out my radio gear on the 700N. There just doesn't seem to be a good place for the big AR7100R except for on the top of the radio tray. I think (I'd have to check) that by having the receiver at the top rear of the tray and having the 2600mah Li-Ion in front of it might fit perfectly. I'll try it as soon as I get out of the office.

I am running a FP 4340 EVO RX and that one balances out great and gets at least 6 flights

We'll see where it balances once the rest of my electronics arrive. Looks like I may have to switch to a larger pack. I usually put in at least 5 flights when I go out. I always carry a spare pack.

IMO the 2600 will end up slightly tail heavy. See the Freak for the Finless 700N video - he does the AR7100R install there.

Thanks for the info. I'm not too crazy about the location of the Lipo. It looks VERY exposed to impact damage. If I were to go the big Lipo route I might try to fit it on the top of the tray. The Rx could be mounted below, further back from the nose, to protect it in a crash....maybe.

I guess I'll have to finish building it then see what kind of nose weight I'm going to need to balance it.

I am using a small 2000mah square RX pack, this is giving me 4 flights on the almost the same setup at 8 volts.

I put my 5200mAh fromeco pack on the top and the radio in the tray below. seems to balance ok with the regulator on the bottom. I stuck the pin flag out the front hole for easy access after the flight. works great. just need time to fly!

950mAh 3-cell

It last me 2 full weekends and its half full(or empty)

I would say more than 1200 its overkill for 3-cells unless you want
weight at the nose. For 2-Cell probablly 2200 is more than enough.

What brand 2600mAh L-ions are you using?

If they are Fromeco Relion 2600's, then they are NOT recommended for use with the JR 8717 servos in any application. The 8717's are current monsters and can ask the 2600 for more current than it can put out. When you ask them for too much, the voltage can fall off and lead to a reset Rx and gyro in flight.

Fromeco recommends no less than the Relion 5200mAh L-ion with the 8717's.

Stole this from the Scott Gray site.

RECOMMENDED SETUP
For the ultimate in speed and consistent feel 90 and 50 class helis

REACTOR X
Bus setting 6.8V
JR 8717 Servos (x3)
Thunder Power 2100mah 2S battery (TP2100-2SPL)

The 6.8V Bus setting is safe for continuous use with JR 8717 servos. This setup will offer more consistent in flight feel compared to running direct 7.4V to the high voltage servos because the voltage level stays constant at all current loads with ReactorX. Lightweight TP2100 battery will offer 3-4 high energy flights, and low weight.

I use 2100 never had any problems so can't see any probs with your 2600. I think 5000 is adding extra weight you don't really need.

I am currently running 2 8 volts 600s with the Sepctrum regulator and 8717s using 2600 mah fromecos in each and no problem. I fly 4 times on each with room to spare and then top them off. Yesterday I pulled one down to 7.5 volts after and entire tank of really bad 4 point tic toc practice and reverse piros.

Plenty are doing it and getting by with it, so far. It has been proven that the 8717 are capiable of drawing enough current to pull a 2600 down. It all depends on your set up, any binding and flying style.

Like I said, "IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED"

2600 lion fromeco packs with three 8717 one 8900 and a 3144? for throttle. JR770 and GV1. 6 flights easy (uses about 1575 mAh) pleanty of spare headroom there. No glitches, the 8717s run just fine on the 600N. These servos get a bad rep and dont deserve it. The HIGH torque is very hard to load up. As a result they do NOT drag down the pack below safe levels in my opinion.

Not a fluke! there is no issues with this setup, trust! About 11 months and 20 to 25 gallons.

if you dont run it, dont knock it!

However...

Fromeco does NOT recommend these in a 90 ship. The weight/load is greater than on a 50 and they feel the margin for error is not there.
For a 90 they recommend the 5200 Relion
(YMMV)
