This hobby/sport is like any other, some catch on quick some take a little longer. Dont get frustrated. If you really enjoy flying it will come to you rather quickly. If you just got into this hobby because you saw someone else fly and thought it looked cool but dont have the patients forget it, its not for you.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I'm sure I am unlike most. I soloed after only 10 or so packs. On my second forward flight my instructor soloed me. I have a 3d airplane background and a sim. The went up on the buddy box twice but I hated it. Finally I just took the plunge and started flying instead of hovering. If you can fly on the sim there is little difference in the real world.
