One of the local plank fliers expressed interest in maybe getting a heli, so I gave him the opportunity to try and hover my King. He ran 2 packs through it for a total of 27min of rotor spinning time. At the end of the second pack he was holding it decently 6" off the ground. I feel that another 2-3 packs will have him hovering a whole pack easily. I am not sure if he is hooked just yet but a few more batteries and he just might be. Here is a video I took from afar when he wasn't watching

As a note, this is my "new" king. The current component list looks like

- Xtreme CF frame w/100% stock tail
- Purple head w/B400 swash and servo ball links
- s3114 servos on cyclic
- Align 430L motor + 35G ESC + Hobbywing 5/6v 3A BEC
- B400 gear, Rex450 landing gear, Rex450 vertical fin
- ESky 704B gyro w/s3154 servo
- Stock canopy
- Either stock blades (taped) or Align 285s
- FMA 2100 18c pack

Yup 15min on the first and 12 on the second. Put back in 1806 in the first and 1605 in the second.

TJ,
Youll have him hooked in no time. After a while you have to start your own club.

We need video proof around here.

He looked pretty good for being on his first flights.

Helicopters don't fly, they beat the air into submission.

Well flying in a gym for your first flights on a well setup heli and having a more experienced pilot looking over your shoulder does help

A nicely set-up heli certainly speeds up the learning curve for sure. His "plank" experience also contributed to his early success as well.
