Racin,
Can one hypothetically loop a HBFP? I now have 2 of them built. They are both stock of course. I have preordered parts i need if i plant it. What do you think?

We need video proof around here.

Yes, I've seen a couple of videos on youtube of an FP heli being looped. Though I believe these FP helis aren't stock. It can be done...though. I've never attempted the maneuver. I know Doug..."you can do it!"

Im gonna climb as high as i can and still see it, then turn into the wind. Go fff and hold back for all its got. If it doesnt do it ill try to save it. If it does it im gonna call my buddy so i can get some video.

I was messing around giving it full back today. I think the little guy was trying to tell me that its time to loop.

This is a good video illustrating an FP heli being looped. This FP heli has the 3DX450 3550KV BL motor on 3S.

Oh, I forgot about this guy and his stock Century Hummingbird FP heli! Not only does he loop the stock FP, he also performs a roll!

He also has some other very good vids flying his stock Hummingbird. Just proves that some guys can do more with a $100 heli than others can with a $1000 bird.

Freefall From 200 ft. Warning: f-word used once in this video.

Flying on a very windy day (very funny!)

"This is how we fly them in Norfolk...we hand launch downwind."

He also has a nice turbine heli:

Wow that turbine doesn't sound like your average nitro bird. I would step back as it spun up also

Racin, Your the resident "fixed pitch fanatic" I love it, you really can have ALOT of FUN with the FP machines. Great compilation of Vids. Toolman, I think because you don't have any negative pitch at your disposal with a fp you have to have a ton of forward speed and be high enough so when the heli drops after the top of the loop, you can recover in time. Racin's posted vid is proof that it CAN be done.

Yeah. Its coming to a point. I must do it or kill the HBFP trying. Its been eating at me for a while now. At least itll make for good video either way.

With some strong .. er.. well..
And some effort, one can "almost" loop a CX2!
It actually looks more like a flip than a loop, but it will work.

The only problem with it is that it may kill the heli. If you've not modded the head, the blades will smack together on the pull-out, and it will drop like a rock after that.
Or.. if you get lucky, you may only have the flybar hit the lower blades, and it MAY recover before it hits the ground, provided you have enough altitude.

The trick is just getting enough speed up.
I went for a near dive to get some speed up, then pulled it up.
It won't actually loop, or at least I never got it to. What it did was to pull up into the vertical, and then it kind of fell over on it's back. From there it was just a scramble to get it to recover, and pull out of it. But I made it (once... after the last attempt, I went to the hobby store for parts. hahaha..)

It's amazing how brave you get with a CX2 after flying the 450.

Helicopters don't fly, they beat the air into submission.
