| Today I was flying a fairly new TT metal swashplate and one of the inner balls came off in flight. It was the one to the mixing levers. That thing made a horrible fluttering sound and the blades almost stopped turning. It crashed right side up so it destroyed the landing gear, frame, and lots of other parts. It even popped the case off the receiver. Luckily the blades looked ok.
Most of the time when I get a part that is assembled I take it apart and reassemble with thread lock. Everyone tells me that they just take out of the box and go fly. Needless to say I am going back to my old approach of not trusting anyone else to assemble parts.
