I am after some Blade 400 3d information please. I am flying a raptor .30 right now. I fly this helicopter everyday after work. I am burning a gallon of nitro every 2 days. This fuel burn is becoming hard on my pocket book. I believe the blade would be much cheaper to run. I would be purchasing the Plug and Play version and using my JR 8103 tx. I also already have a nice lipo charger as well to handle packs. Here is where my questions start.

- What lipo batteries would I have to purchase? Will two be enough (one charging while other flying)?

- How long can I expect my flight times to be?

- Will it in stock format teach me all the things I am afraid to do with my raptor (loops, rolls, 3d, nose in & autos)?

Any other information would be of help. Thanks

You'll get around 6 to 8 minutes of flight time on a battery, maybe a little more if you're really taking it easy. It takes around 45 minutes for a battery to charge. So you won't be able to fly constantly with only two batteries. With 3 batteries and two chargers you can get closer. Personally, I just go to the field with 6 or 7 batteries fully charged and fly until they're done. I have two chargers at home. I typically get up to 200 flights out of a lipo pack before I need to replace it, though a couple of my packs have lasted longer. So you can try to figure out if this will work out to be cheaper than buying fuel in the long run.

As for which batteries to buy, there are lots of good brands. Just get some 3 cell lipos between 1800 and 2100 Mah capacity. The Outrage packs are good, ThunderPower ProLite 2100s, etc.

The stock B400 can do all of those things, though autos will be a lot easier with your Raptor than with a B400. In general you'll probably find the B400 to be harder to fly than your Raptor, though maybe the fact that it's less intimidating might more than make up for it for you.

Thanks for the info. I was expecting the average flight times to be longer though. I was hoping for the 12 minute range. I am not worried at all about the machine be tricky to fly. It can't be any harder then a stock hummingbird FP!
I am hearing all this bad stuff about the blades servo gears stripping. Is this something I can expect in a crash? Or can it just happen during normal and aerobatic flight?

Yeah, the B400 stock servos strip very easily in a crash, and even if you never crash they are very inaccurate, and will make the heli feel more unstable than it really is because they don't center well.
