Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Problems with Reactor X regulator??

Hello,

First of all, I have two of these regulators, and never had any issues with 8717s, Duralite Li-Mn, in a R50 and R90.

However... a few weeks ago I set-up a R90 for a guy, and noticed his GY611 gyro was showing over 7 volts on its LCD display... Ended up being a defective Reactor X unit.

Last week, another friend bought this regulator, and it was DOA.

Yesterday, my other flying buddy's 30 flights old R90 started doing "glitching" in flight, and after landing the R921 rx lights were blinking, showing a power loss. (glitching was a servo jump when power was restored). We tested several things.... a new battery, a new receiver.... and finally crashed the R90 ( fairly minor damage to the airframe, however the Hatori SB-18FH muffler is busted!). Then we realized that if we would gently tap on the Reactor, the receiver would reset, showing that the ReactorX regulator is intermittent.

All three units came from the same LHS and were from the same batch (coming directly from SGP if I understood correctly).

So..... Anyone had problems with there ReactorX regulator? Is it just a bad batch? I don't want to discredit this product ( Again, I have 2 of them and I don't have problems with them), but if there's a bad batch better let everyone know and let SGP fix them before another crash occurs....

out of total 8 units that me and my friend have only one have problem and SCG replace it for me. The problem was that the unit drain battery by itself as if I left the switch on. All I have to say I like this very much especially when selected 6.8 V it seems like I have new servos.

I have two of these reactor's without any issues either. Ill check mine tonight to see if its regulating the voltage to the receiver. I haven't checked that yet. Let us know what happens with yours

Turned out that all units had been broken due to user errors.

One unit was mounted directly to the frame of a Raptor 90 and became intermittent. (Vibration)

One unit had been shorted... A servo shorted and the 5.2V output became "unregulated" (a nice type of failure if you ask me!)

And the other one, not 100% sure, but possibly the guy used a bind plug instead of the supplied jumper to shut-off the regulator. But again, not 100% sure. This might have shorted the regulator.

Scott Gray Products repaired all units.

So my confidence level about these units is back to 100%, and Scott Gray Products customer support is topnotch!

ReactorX failure. Looks like a bad design to me. Only solder is holding the secondary board.
