| Nigel Cartwright put some settings in Model Helicopter World's June issue, page 22, to soften the feel as he thought the same as you.
Basically
dual rates on ele, ail and rud to 90%,
Expo at 25% for ele and ail, 20% for rudder,
Throttle curve L=0%, 2=40%, 3=55%, 4=70%, H=95%.
Pitch curve L=30%, 2=40%, 3=50%, 4=65%, H=95%
Try those settings, but by all means fit a scale body too.
