Scale Model RC Helicopters > Mechanics mounting advice in Funkey 50 Fuselage

I am looking for advice on mounting a T Rex 600E into a Funkey Airwolf 50 fuselage.

I have made up a suitable base mount for the mechanics to secure to the base of the fuselage and have bolted thru the bottom of the fuselage thru the mount into the mechanics.

My query is about whether there is a need for any bracing at the top of the mechanics onto the top of the fuselage to reduce flex.

I originally tested the heli with just the base mounting and it seemed fine with only a slight vibration on spoolup but it seemed a good idea to add a brace each side at the top.I made up 2 all brackets that bolted to the top of the frames and into wooden strips glued inside the top of the fuselage but when i tried it,there was much more vibration on spoolup and shutdown and one of the wooden strips broke free of the fuselage but i did only glue it lightly for starters.I then removed the top supports, spooled it up again and it seemed smoother..

So i suppose my question is,Do you need top supports? and if so can someone offer a suitable solution,i was thinking of some sort of rubber or foam damper.
As far as i am aware, there is nothing in the instructions to suggest them but i had a Thunder Tiger fuselage on a Raptor and that did have some.
Thanks

Chris

Yes you will need some bracing at the top of the fuse. Having tricycle landing gear, it'll want to move around and shake its booty doing the happy flight dance before take off. This can go away or become amplified in flight but you can skin that cat right now and build the braces. Hope this helps.

I'd say yes, and make sure they are tight. First flight with my Funkey H-500 I had a vibration so bad it nearly came apart. Post flight checks showed the upper mounts were loose and one blade was out of balance by the weight of the tracking tape.

I redid the upper mount, by adding a doubler and a blind nut so it was easier to get a solid connection. I also removed that one little piece of tape. No more vibrations.

Yes, I installed a top support on mine also.. I use a piece of aluminum sheet to make the brace as it is easy to form and bend. When i dont have the brace on top, the mechanics is shifting from side to side playing inside of the fuse..I installed one each side and one up front..Now its sturdy and flies awesome..
