Ok so I purchased a b400 on Monday. I then went over to a buddy's house and sarted getting ready to take here to the ball field for the first flight. We changed the battery connectors to dean's and we where ready to start charging. When it was done charging off to the field we went, My buddy is a good heli pilot and I am just getting back in after about 5 years off. He took her up trimmed her in and flew about 2 circuits with it. When he brought her down to a hover everything looked great All of a sudden she flew over to third base turned the nose toward second banked right and came right at us( in the ground she went) So back to the LHS for about 30 dollars in parts. I got it all back together that evening and off to the back yard to hover, everything was great, went to 2 fully charged packs between then and last night.
So last night I went to the field my buddy with his kyosho450v(nice bird) and his caliber 5 me with my B400. Up I went about 1 minute into the hoover and I lost control again The nose turned in toward me and I thankfully got her to the ground safely confussed thinking I did it tried it again. Into the hoover and all of a sudden around she went. I put her away and headed home puzzled all I could come up with was the radio and reciever, so I have changed it out for my DX7 and an AR6100. Has anyone had this problem or even heard of this happening? really do not want to stuff her in the ground.

Blade 400 problems

dear helircparks,

I have not yet had that issue with my B400. I have heard of stories from friends that power lines can interrupt the signal sometimes and send it out of control. My friend actually almost had his head taken off by his Caliber 60 a few years ago. I would suggest checking the area for any power lines. If you don't see any, double check and make sure there aren't any buried. They still might have some ability to interrupt your Tx / Rx signals.

Disconnect your 400's motor power leads from the ESC. Power up your TX and then power up your helicopter. Hold your TX and tap it a little - watch your swash plate for movement. If it moves without moving the sticks, you have something loose (wire, solder joint) in the TX!! Check all the connections to the 400's receiver also.

I had that happen to me. I heard alot of talk about brown-outs, but I had a hard time believing that was the cause. Like you I had it happen 3 times, and knew I could not trust it in the air. If you can try a different receiver. I replaced mine and haven't had a problem since. I did send my other one to HH, and they did replace it with a new one. I am now running a AR6200, and it has been working great!

Probs

Hopefully I won't ever experience those problems. If I do and it really is the receiver, then I will just buy a new upgraded receiver / gyro package. I'm using the stock ones atm.

Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone! I really appreciate all the advice! I took out the reciever and replaced it with an ar6100 that I already had and bound everything to my dx7 and that worked perfectly. THANKS again!!!

No not really!! I thought I had it all worked out,but now the tail servo is messed up. I went to take it up and got to half throttle and the tail whipped around to the right, so thinking that there might be a servo problem (after reading about them) I took the aileron servo out and swapped it for the tail, outcome- tail hels solid but when I ran the throttle up the rotor blades where tilted back. So I plan on chenging them out for hs-55 servos.

I would go with the HS65s over the 55s. They are much more responsive. Once I put them (along with an 81mg for my tail) in, my B400 flies like a dream. I still need to adjust some of my linkages for a "perfect hover", but it does a great job already with the replacements.
