Hi people!

1º Sorry for my bad English but i need to share something that happened to me with one of my new packs.

All my Batts are FLYGHT POWER and they are brand New and one of them with 23 charges is complete puff like a balloon.

This is not the quality i was expecting with flight power.

Specks os my heli:

T-Rex 450 SE
Scorpion 8
Align 35 ESC
Hitec 65MG
Futaba Gyro 401
Futaba 9257 on the tail
3 flight power Evolite 2500mah 1 puff
2 flight power evo 25 2500mah all ok
Flight time 5 minutes i think is 80% of batt to preserve life of batt
Charger is Shulze ISL 6-330 d and balancer Hyperion LBA 10net 6S+

What can i do?
Flight Power quality id going Bad?
They Have some warranty here in Europe because i live in Portugal.

Please give me some help !

I could tell you where to send them to in the U.S., but that is not going to help you. Send "tchavei" a PM, he is from Portugal, and is a regular on this website. I am sure he could help you out.

Hi

The closes Flight Power Main branch is in the Uk (www.flightpower.co.uk). I would give them a call (or send an email to info@flightpower.co.uk) and try to get this sorted.

Can you please tell us where did you get those batteries from? If somewhere here in europe and the dealer is fairly reputable, I'm sure that if you contact him, he would speak up for you to flightpower directly. If you got them from the US then only FlightPower UK might help you.

Good Luck

Se precisares de mais alguma coisa ou ajuda, manda-me uma mensagem privada. Abraços

Tony

PS - There is another thing I remembered. We are currently in the hottest month of the year. 107F (42C) isn't uncommon. If the battery gets too hot during flight, it might puff too. Most batteries (if I'm not mistaken) can handle 55C (130F) without problems but when you're already flying in 42C and assuming that the battery heats up 20C above ambient temperature, you're already at 62C (143F)... just an idea.

Canizes battery was purchased in a local hobby shop (Aerokit).
The maximum temperature the battery reached was about 52-53 ºC, as he has a digital temperature probe.
I gave him the same advice about contacting FlightPower UK and see how they handle this issue.

Aerokit is a good store however I can't see them working directly with flightpower to solve the problem. His best bet is flightpower UK

This is a copy of the email Nuno have send to flight power

Dear FlightPower support team:

I’m sending this e-mail due to a problem in one of my FP packs.
For some time now I (and all my friend who have the same hobby) only use FP batteries. I have 3 3s 2500mAh Evolite V2 packs and 2 3s 2500mAh Evo25 packs that I use in an Align T-Rex 450SE helicopter.
So far, none of us had a problem, until I was about to charge an Evolite Pack I used a couple of days ago. I immediately noticed the pack was bigger than before. Unfortunately, It didn’t take much to see that the upper cell is all swollen, as is the lower one (but in a much small proportion). That is usually the signal of a problem in the battery pack.
I bought this pack about a month ago, and as I keep a record of how many times I use my LiPo packs, I can say I balance-charged it 23 times using a Schuze isl 6 330-d charger and an Hyperion LBA 10 6S balancer.
This is one of my recent packs. All the other ones I have are ok.
The timer on my transmitter is set to 5 minutes, so I never fly longer that this. I always let the batteries cool down to ambient temperature before charging, and always charge them with the balancer.
With my heli, I mainly do some sport flying. I’m using the stock Align ESC (35A) and a Scorpion 2221 -8 motor, with wooden blades, all far from the standard discharge rate of the battery.
As I believe this isn’t normal in a high quality LiPo pack as the FlightPower ones (especially in an almost new pack), I want to ask you if there is any warranty replacement for these kind of issues. I am relying on FP batteries and their quality and in spite of being disappointed with what happened, I do believe this is not a common problem amongst your LiPo packs.
Please review my situation as soon as possible, as I don’t want to use the battery pack like that. I’ll be looking forward for your answer.

Best regards, Nuno Canizes

I never like Flight Power.

If the new one they sent goes bad, it's time to invest in some of these!
