I have a Trex 450 with "absolute power" battery packs, a hobbyco charger and using "blinky" balancers. I seem to be only getting 3-5 min flight time. this seems a little short to me.

Any suggestions??

I have no idea on head speed do to no tach, but the rest of the info is as follows:

Motor - Align 430L brushless
ESC - Align RCE-BL35G
13 tooth pinion on motor and 150 tooth light blue main rotor gear

The batteries are both 2150 MAH

did you "break-in" your new battries/ Five flights @ no more than 50% of total Mah = 2150 / 1/2 = 1075Ma. so when you recharge you don't want to carge at full 2150. You might puff a pak. After five flights see where your time is at 80% = 1740Ma should be 5-6:45mins. Yeah doesn't seem right charge 1hr. fly 6 mins.....but buy more packs. I have three 2200Ma packs.there are Brothers here on rr with 6 or more! I just need more money LOL

more batteries is the way to go. got 7 here, or 3.5 for each bird. you can get a lot of flying in . worth the money. found a couple kong power 1800mah for 50 bucks new on line. good batteries and 25 bucks apiece. can't beat that.

I have 11 for two TREX 450's. All used. All purchased off RR. Untill I learn to fly I dont see a reason to spend a lot of money on them. Besides, they all seem like good batteries.

Just do some searching on here and have patience. You will eventually find some really good deals here.

i have a question. how many cycles can you get out of a decent battery? i see used batteries with x amount of cycles on them. even seen some with 100 charges go for 2/3 new price.

I think with the exception of 3 batteries, all the ones I have when I got them are less than 25 cycles. The 3 have something like 35-40 on them. Like I said all used. I dont know how long they last, we'll see....

to get back to your question i usually get a 5 1/2 min flight out of a 1800 mah pack and that leaves me 20% left. i try to be easy on them but 3 minutes there's something wrong. are you discharging them until the bird loses power and goes down. that will cause them to puff up. by the way my 450 trex is stock motor and esc getting 5.5 to 6 min flight times with 20% left.

I am running 3S 2170 EVO 25C and 20C packs in mine. Granted its only hovering and FF but I am doing it for 6 min. I am averageing about 1200 - 1500 MAH put back in the pack after that. Completely stock setup on a TREX 450 v1. I think the least I have ever put back is something like 937 MAH. The most was about 1700, that was after some high flying in the wind with a high headspeed for about 7 mins though.

I figure when I learn to do more with it my times will go down and MAH usage will go up. For now though, this is the perfect setup for me.

i use a multiplex charger, but i got a thunder power charger balancer with my 2nd heli. there's no opions on mah it's all automatic. i would like to have both chargers going but not sure how to tell what's going in and out of each pack. anyone used TP chargers or have one like it? don't have a good tester to tell what it's at when i'm done. my multiplex has a read out and mah selection.
