here is my friend's reply after I sent him a link to this thread,,

""Jim,
Don't know what all the fuss is about. It may be that you shouldn't use them in 50 size or bigger helis, I just haven't heard about it. I've been using them in my Shuttle Plus with an OS 37 for two years now with no problems. Also, if it is true that the 821 uses the same gear train as the 8101, why would the 821 break gears when the 8101 is recomended for use in 60 size helis ?
Later,""

Any time a manufacturer steps up and issues a bulletin about a servo NOT being used in a certain application....I'd listen

The DS821 servo is a powerful, accurate sport digital servo recommended for RC airplane applications up to 1.20-size. For helicopters, the DS821 operates best with 30-size glow models, and up to 50-size electric. Loads and vibration in larger models may cause premature failure of the servo resulting in damage or injury to property and persons.

As was stated earlier, its not the load on the servo, its the vibrations.

I can't believe a 50 vibrates more than a 30, the larger the engine the less they vibrate..

There is no logic in that statement.

The problem aswell with these servos is they come in a otional package with the x9303! You would think that a high-end transmitter would come with desent servos!Lots of guys install them, then, well youve heard what they do!

Why buy a radio set with 4 servos you can't use?

Some vendors sell it without servos, others get it with the servos and sell them for 50 or 60 bucks (thats about the going price)
