Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Which carb for G23?

I have a new G230PUH and a Blois modified heli head. I was going to order a Walbo 603 carb but now I see more new carb options. Walbro 643, 644, and 645.

Anybody have experience with these carbs and what should I go with.

Thanks

Dennis,

I can only tell you the 603 is much better than the stock 167A. Haven't used the others on the 23. If I were you, I'd research the bore size and venturi size of the other carbs to see if they are really compatable with the G23. Hope this is of some help.

Carbs

Thanks for the info Tom.

From what you describe I would think that the carbs without out the choke parts would be a better breathing engine. It comes with the new G26. That's where I saw it.

I wouldn't know for sure, but you might need a choke up there in Canada on those cold days

My gasser has the 603 carb with built in choke, I don't use the choke so far, but I haven't been flying in freezing wheather with it

Yeah someone might need a choke on those cold days but I won't. I only fly when it nice out. This is supposed to fun and relaxing.

Also, my air filter assbly has a choke built in it so I was hoping to use that.

Is it worth "uppgrading" to the latest carb?

167 A here as well.....

on a Hanson modded G23.......and it already is a horse! Tom, email me when you get a source for one with the choke, as I have to finger mine for starting after leaning it out a bit on the bottom......for those that don't think they need a choke....its probably too rich on the bottom if you dont choke at cold starts.......IMHO.......ask Bill Meador for his opinion....hey, guess I am already !
HEY, Mr. Bill.........what say on this???

James, that is the problem with the 167a on any engine, you have to run lean to make it behave decent....I don't even like to tune one now if it has one on it
On the other carbs, I ve run the ones on the new engines, and they seem to do good. I know the 603 works good...Thats the reason I'm sticking with it....I have a G26 coming for my Xcell..Should be here by the end of the week...Wish I had it ready for Sulphur...I'll be trying the 603 on it also, just to see...I'll let you know...
Choke issue: unless you are flying in real cold condistions, you want need a choke...If you do take the choke off the 603, plug the shaft holes up with something ....I leave the choke on myself, and close it when not flying...
Regards,
Bill
