Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > A strange noise and wavy flybar?

OK I got to fire up the YS 91ST today. Anyways, I have a strange noise when starting the YS. It goes away as soon as it is running.

It sounds like a loud intermittent squeak only when cranking. I figure this is the one way bearing slipping in the clutch but not positive. I know I put alot of torque to it when I was trying to free up the OS70.

The other problem I have is after I get a spool up to 1700 my flybar looks like it has a fast wavy (ripple) look to it. It looks good until I get up to speed then it just shows up. I got a swashplate setup tool from John (worth every penny BTW) so I set up all of my linkages again so I know that my main blades are out of track a little bit.

My flybar paddles are parallel and the flybar looks straight.

I ran out of battery tonight, I have never messed with a YS before and I kept flooding it. Motor is still running rough but I figure a rough motor would not cause this anyways.

Check your button head screws. After some trashing I had to use red loctite to cure the problem.

Not sure what bolts you are talking about Bill.

Button head screws

Those would be the screws holding bearings of the flybar carrier. They have a tendancy to work out even with loctite on them.

Thomas

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you!

I cranked down every bolt on the thing again. I also noticed that my tail belt was about shot so I swapped it out also.

It seems like it only shows up when the motor is choking on fuel, so if I ever get this motor running good I think it will go away.

I am on vactation in 2 more days. So I will have some time to mess with it and get it running good.
