Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 600N What Type of Servos to use with 2 In 1 Regulator

Hi Everyone:

Curious to know what type servos can be used with the 2 in 1 regulator.

I currently use Futaba and Hitec servos. I'll have to check on the voltages of these, to see if I can use 6 volts or not.

And where can I purchase the Step Down for the Regulator to convert the voltage to 5.1 and be able to use 4.8 volt servos.

All comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

you can get the spectrum step down works well, check out horizon hobby. I like to run 9451 or 9452 they work very well at 6v the only thing you need to step down is the gyro.
you also could get the best and buy a fromeco arizona reg it can be adjusted from 4.8v to 6v and the gyro is always at 4.8.
hope this help good luck..

How do you measure success, One empty gal at a time..

Thats a strong statement, and i will reiterate, i don't/haven't/ won't step down my tail servos. I run 9251's and 9256's at 5.8 volts and have done for hundreds of flights. I consider most of my tail servos to be at the point now that if they fail they have done more than their fair share of work.

I am running 9255 with the 600E with no problems and also DS8715s in my 600PRO.
well over 200 flights on each now.

How About 6 Volts Useage?

Thanks for all the replies so far.

But, does using 6 volts harm the servos?

I have read that Futaba does not recommend using 6 volts on its servos. I don't know about Hitec??

If I don't need the Step Down for the 2 in 1 regulator, I'd prefer not to use it.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again,

Jeff

You only need your step down for your gyro the 2 in 1 doesn't run at 6 volts its 5.8v.

This is a generic statement that applies to NiCAD use if you read carefully, a 6.0 volt Nicad or NimH is 5 cells that have a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts per cell, when you charge it that voltage is close to 7.5 volts.

We are now talking regulated at 5.8 volts, there are pilots out there that i know are using 5 cell Nimhs without stepdowns!!

Hitec 6975's will run off a fully charged unregulated 2 cell lipo without problems. That i know for sure, over 100 flights without issue.

Futaba 9251's 9256's 9451's and BLS451's /351's/ 251's will all run on 5.8 volts regulated without issue.

Seriously you will not instantly kill a servo running it at 5.8 volts regulated. You may reduce its life expectancy by a small proportion, but i would still rather do this than run a weak link in the system aka stepdown....

I have been running 9252s on the align 2 in 1 with no step down for about 15 gallons now and no trouble. I know several people that run them at 5.8 or whatever it is from the 2 in 1.

THANKS TO ALL!

Thanks to everyone:

You answered my question on the 2 In 1 Regulator and 6 volt or 5.8 volt issue.

Now, I don't have to worry about running a little more power thru the servos.

You all take care.

There are only a couple of servos that are rted for 4.8v use ONLY. These are usually the gyro servos.

Most are rated for both 4.8v and 6.0v.

Based on NICAD use 4 cell and 5 cell respectively.

Nicad, Nimh, Lipo or any battery 4.8 volts is still 4.8 volts.

I run a 2s1p Thunder Power 1320mah pack in my Trex 600 but I have it regulated to 5.3 volts. I have a GY611 gyro with a 9256 on the tail and a 9254 on the throttle so I can't run 6 volts to them servos.

I'm using ds8717's on 6 volts through a 2in1. I run my throttle and tail servos on 5.2V through a Spektrum 2ch regulator.

The electronics draw so large amounts of current that a 2s1800 pack lasts only about 2 flights, I think I'll have to get a bigger pack.

Yes you can

A fully charged 4 cell NiCd/NiMh pack is over 6v fully charged, drops under load but is still well in excess of your 4.8v ceiling for some servos.

I've run most of these 4.8v servos at 5 cell and regulated 5.8v/6.0v with no noticeable ill effects for years
