Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Glitch caused by bad antenna??

A few days ago, my Bergen started to glitch pretty bad on the throttle servo. Luckly the very 1st time it happened I was only a few feet off the deck and just about to land. When it gliches for a sec or two, the throt servo drives to idle or cut-off position. For the short time it happens, the cyclic and collective seem to be OK and we actually could see the servo move - uncommanded.

I started trouble shooting with the parts I had - 1st I replaced the Throt servo with a new 8311 and it still glitched. Then I tried another new Revloution whip antenna --- for the time being, that seemed to have solved it.

The antenna I had on originally, was also a new revolution whip antenna that I had only installed about 2 months ago - So, I really don't have a warm-n-fuzzy about this fix. Has any else had problems like this?? What's the chance of antenna failing so soon??

Thanks,
Mark

Hi,

I think not only your throttle servo glitched. If it is a antenna problem then all servo's are involved. Probably you have set-up fail save to hold the last position on cyclic and to set throttle servo to idle?

If only the throttle glitched, it is a different problem. Could be shielding problem of the high tension cable.

What receiver do you use? Some receivers are a bad combination with gassers. I particular had a bad experience with a Futaba G3 (to sensitive).

Regards,

Paul

That's what I'm affraid of - I thought an antenna would effect everything, but it's hard for me to tell. Since the 1st occurannce only a couple feet up (which I was already in a landing flare), since then I've grounded the bird, and have had it glitch while spooling up or just before hover, so again I'm really not using a whole lot of cyclic or collective inputs. After replacing the antenna, I ran a whole tank thru it - 80% on the grd vary the throttle, then after No glitches I did hover it about 5-6 feet up for the last few mins and I still don't have a warm and fuzzy about it.

I'm running a 9303 / 649 and have my fail safe set to everything to hold, except my throt to idle. With the bergen, the HT lead is out the back and all the elctronics and antenna are up front, A good 6 inches or so apart.

I had slight glitching with my Airtronics on 72. Terroid ring helped alot. But not the warm fuzzy feeling. Got a X9303 2.4 w/9 ch rx.
Warm and fuzzy here now. Maybe for piece of mind sell your TX or covert it to 2.4 with a module??

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

That's what I'm thinking! But I think that will just hide the source of the glitch rather that fix it, correct? I've had this bird for almost a year flying at the same field and never had a problem till
now - but I like your thinking. Mmmm---2.4---Mmmm drool drool.
