As soon as I get a minute, I'll post some pics of my set up. I have used the Futaba FASST System on my Lama and after around six flights have had no problems at all.

The receiver is mounted in the belly of the canopy in a frame made out of wood. The frame also holds the various batteries etc... if you go onto the Vario website and check Gonzalo's build, mine is very similar and you will know what I mean.

The two aerials from the receiver come through the floor and I have double sided taped them under the front pilots seat. It all seems fine and as there is plenty of room in the Lama, you shouldn't have too many problems.

Gonzalo's build on the main Vario site is well worth a look, it helped me no end.

Totto,
I am running 2.4 ghz in mine as well with no issues. I will shoot pictures when I get back into town. My woodwork was based off Gonzolam's design with boxes being framed into the base of the canopy. The main receiver and aerial is in one bay and the additional lead is routed forward along side the base of the woodwork.

Many thanks Gonzalo and Rcfish,
Great buildup ! Those are supernice machines/colorsheme you got guys :-)

On mine i use a local scheme here in Norway.

At the same time would like to ask you:

I have installed the Futaba 401 gyro. Normally i use all mine in Heading hold. What types of servos does any of you use for the gyro on the Lama ?
How far out on the servo horn ?. In Vario manual it is stated 17 mm ! That is very far out isn't it ?

The fueltanks i really dont like. Its blue and you cannot see anything whats left in it !
Helifactory makes some which should be a better solution i think.

Thanks for any info,

Totto,
Those are nice tanks. I am running a Kevlar set from Al Wert at Starwood Models.

Keep up the nice work. By the way, did you tint your glazing? It looks darker than standard.
Thanks

Fantastic tanks!!!! Love it.

On the GY 401 i used recommended by Vario directly to use the same servo as the head system Futaba 9206. Make sure the Gyro is set for a non digital servo and in my case I used the arm they recommend on HH and it works perfect!

Hello Gonzalo and many thanks for your info !

Are you using 2,4 ghz in your Lama ?
Do you have any pic's of your antenna arrangement?

Hello Rcfish,
Now i have not tint it, but it just looks a bit dark on the photo.
However i have thought of tint it with a 2% black spray from the inside (windows out of course beforhand). Just to get a bit darker glazing.

Red Machine, Rcfish :

Regarding the original of this tread. Would like very much to see yours arrangement of the 2,4 ghz antennas if possible.

The reason i would like to see pic's of 2,4 antenna arrangement is that this is new to me and i really dont want to do faults here.
It sure looks simple but just to be on the safe side.

Thanks

Hello Rckfish,

Many thanks for the pic's !
Looks ok so no antennas outside the fuse.

To me it looks like you have the JR/Graupner 2,4 system and not Futaba 2,4 Fasst. Am i correct ? I see that you have a sattelite receiver as well and i did not know that Futaba uses that or am i wrong here ? Anyone ?

Thanks again !

Totto,
I am running the JR 2.4ghz. No antennas are outside. I have been flying my Lama with the JR system for about 8 months now.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
