if you already have them use the 500t it is a very good gyro.

The 502 is basically a 601 which is made to work on the slightly slower tail servo(9253/54)

Here is a thread were a simple modification can change the 502 into a 601. Personally I think the 502/601 are a better sensor than the 500t.

One big advantage of the 502 is being able to adjust the left/right throws independently. The JR500 has been a good gyro for me, seems to give me more consistent piro rates than the 401 but I'd take a 601 over the 500 any day. I have not flown a 502 so can't directly compare but I'll bet BH is right, same sensor. My 601 gives great performace in both consistency and holding power even with relativly low gain settings. Also nice to have the display for voltage and the gain seen at the gyro.

If I had both on my bench I'd put the 502 in and save the 500 for a 50 project or a spare 'just in case'.

...yep...

well see its going on a 90 and the 502 is for 60 and upsize.

This is the first time that I see a "suggestion" of a gyro based on the size of a helicopter. I don't think I've ever seen one on the manufacturer's instructions. I always thought that the gyro was more of a skill of the pilot, than the size or performance of the helicopter.

With that being said, I have a 401 on a Trex, and 500T's on a 50, a 90, and another 450 sized heli. I'm starting to see the limits of the 500T and the 401, so it might be time to change to a new, "better" gyro, based on my pilot skills and not the size of the helis. Most likely the same gyro (or very similar) will go into most of my helis.

Here's my two-cents: I would use the G500T. I prefer a simpler setup... and not mounting that amp is simpler. I have not flown a 502, but I have flown a 601 and a 500T. The 601 was better in backward flight, but the 500T had more consistent piro rates for my taste.

Now if it was the 601 vs. the 500T, then I would pick the 601.
