Very nice Burly. Mines still the stock. Very boring. Did the paint seem like it was going to last. Some people have problems with chipping and peeling. I guess you could alwayys to touch ups. Back when i had a Hawk 30, i painted the thing like 5 times. Green and orange. Its in my gallery.

Dont wait for me. Ill get there when i get there

I dont expect the paint to hold up too well, it was just some cheap paint on the dollar shelf. It went on sooooooo runny, you wont be seeing any closeups thats for sure.

I am tempted to hit the tail boom and fin, just for fun.

Are your blades out of track in the first picture?

Trips, you've inspired me to try something similar when I can. But I have no clue concerning painting canopies.

I want to use spray paint, since I don't intend to buy an airbrush rig.

I'd like to start with a stock white plastic canopy. What brands of primer and paint should I get? I'm doubting off-the-shelf Krylon is the best choice. Is there some type of lightweight paint I should look for that's made for stuff like this? All the LHS has is spray Testors for non-flying model kits.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you...

This is about what I want to end up with.

Clearview is great for trying new paint schemes without ruining canopies.

Burly,
If your tracking is off.....Make sure you dont overtighten the blade grips. I bought the metal sonic blade grips from heliproz. Cured my problems. $22.00

Yes, I know my blade tracking was off. Right before my wife shot the pics my daughter had distracted me when first starting up and the blades scuffed the ground. It took off some of the coating and threw off the tracking.

Thanks for pointing it out though. I have since touched up the coating with ca and retracked the blades. Not as good as they once were but close enough for my flying.

Hey Shiz, as for paint, I really can not help you there, like I said it was just a cheap can of flourescent orange that I thought would stand out in the dusk times. If you look close, there are runs everywhere, but man can you see it from 100 to 150 feet easy.

Toolman, thanks for the tip, I will check them out.

Krylon fusion is the bomb I am sold painted my jet ranger canopy with testors that stuff is the worst ever comes out of the can like glue. the fusion is what Im using from now on light coats and very very fine sanding of edges and clearcoat call it done. otherwise as triple B can atest to you end up with a runny heavyweight canopy that only looks good at a distance.
