No comment necessary, just venting. Ignored all of the disgruntled comments and plopped the cash for a neu 1515 2Y F/H. Ran it on 10S 3300 for all of 4 flights when it slicked my main gear in a climb out. Honestly thought I probably set the pinion to loose but when I pulled the motor, the top bearing looks like it is floating in an oblong wallered out bearing seat in the top of the can. The bearing actually moves about 1mm in two different directions. Just so happens it allowed the pinion to pull off the gear far enough to turn into a lawn mower and shred the gear. Pretty much a stock bird except motor and a CC85HV with setRPM to 2000. Oh well, off to ATTN: Service Department.

Back to my faithful 600XL that somehow manages to always deliver despite landing at around 1000 degrees F and punishing my 6S5K TPs. Was trying to avoid the heat but need alot more than 4 flights reliability to make it worthwhile.

You know I did the same thing with my 1515/2Y. I think your gear mesh was actually too tight which caused too much stress on the bearing. That wore it out prematurely and caused you to eat up that main gear. After I got my repair back from Neu, I have been running the mesh a little loose and have since had no more problems.

FWIW, on 6S I found the ZPower Z30A (also branded as Century 600A+) got good power and a bit easier on the lipos than the XL. Still harsh on the batteries though. My motor went out too, after ~60 or fewer flights, the magnets came loose (not in a crash, though yes it had been crashed previously so...).

Others say that they'd had good reliability from it and for roughly $100 its not a bad option.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

FWIW, I dropped a 43 ripper in place of the neu and ran it on 10S. The motor's only rated for 6S but has a couple of flawless runs. Runs a little warm but still nothing like the 600xl on my GF 600. Batteries cool to touch also. Probably will end prematurely but I figure I've got nothing but time while neu tries to repair. Can anyone confirm that the Z30A is the same as the 43 ripper at 1050KV. The look the same but the only spec difference is number cells. Curious.
