How do you keep the canopy grommets from falling out in flight. I am tired of replacing them. I have been putting lock tite on them but it is not working in the long run. Any idea's?

Is it your grommets falling out or your thumb screws? As for the thumb screws you have to make sure you tighten them good against the rubber canopy hole grommets. I check mine after every flight also and sometimes they loosen slightly. I also use longer screws for the thumb screws.

Check to see if the threads are striped in the body posts. Mine got striped and then they fall out. I tighten mine tight. If it is striped you can put a longer screw in and it will hold. I think i have one of my screws at 16mm. Hope this helps.

I used longer screws in mine from the start (at the recommendation of Bob Johnson) no issues yet

Ditch them, use Hatori exhaust Top hats and long screws. The Grommets will last forever and you wont damage blades ever again.

The stock screws work fine if you tighten them with a hex driver until they are very snug. Biggest problem then is that the grommets themselves break apart after a short while. Still better than losing the thumb screws, especially when they takes chunks of blades with them when the let go.

The stock thumbscrews were never long enough to go through the grommets without deforming the grommet, if the thumb screw shafts had been about 2 mm longer then they would never destroy the grommets. I'll stick with the Hatori spacers myself, too many sets of blades with screws stuck in the leading edge !!!

Try the new SE thumbscrews. They work great!

Before these were released, I made my own.

I used the standard hex bolts & some metal tail blade spacers (from Radix tails) & then I have the metal bushings from Raptor 50 mixing arms (about 5~6mm long).

Slip the spacer onto the bolt, then the bushing.
I put a drop of CA under the bushing upon assembly to hold it all together (so the bushings & spacer can't fall off & get lost)

The bushing butts up against the stand-off so it locks up tight, without crushing the grommet too much.
I had a problem losing thumbscrews every few flights so I had to invent something.
They've been in there over 12 months & I've never lost one since.

I also use a bit of CA under the grommet to stop it turning & the canopy cutting through it when tightening. This increases the life of the grommets.
