3 flights safely, 4 is pushing it on my 2700 JR pack. I have since swapped in a JR 4500 nimi. 8 flights safely now=1 gal or 80 mins per charge.

Your mileage may vary.

I have a JR-2700mah and Yes... three flights easily with mild 3D. It really depends on the condition of your batteries and the type of flying. More servo movement means less flights.

Dude not all batteries are created equal.

what cells does your battery have?
What is your current drain on an average flight?

I'd only go to 70% of the rated capacity. So 2800 you'd use 1960 mah max. Depending on your cells and power requirements you may burn anywhere from 200 mah to 500 mah a flight. Also depends on your flying style.

Nimh's have a tendency to drop rapidly in voltage near their depleted state. Quickly enough to catch you out and crash your model. Hence the 70% figure.
Also they drop quickly in voltage after charge when in use and don't peak as high as nicads. They settle quickly at a voltage somewhat lower than peak and hold it for a long time. MY tx pack is 2700. after charge it is around 11.6 volts but quickly reduces to 10.5 plus. Then it takes ages to go from 10.5 to 9.5. In fact a great deal of it's capacity is still available under 10 volts. Absolutely no need to charge when it gets under 10 volts for quite a while. Thats with a 300mah constant discharge rate and it lasts over 8 hours.
However in a model the discharge is not a constant rate.

I'd do 4 flights and then do a discharge cycle at 1.2 amps and see how long it takes to go under 1 volt per cell. Much lower and you get close to RX cutoff. May give you a ball park figure.

You can't really ask others how many they get....they have different batteries, flying style, servo's etc etc. Could cause you a crash.

Good luck

P.S. Some cells are not good at high currents and can drop the voltage too much. be careful.

Any reason why?? Seems like a backwards move....

Be careful - if you are on JR or Spektrum 2.4 gear if you drag the volts down too far you will reboot the RX - (not good) I understand the Futaba gyros don't like low volts either. Cant blame them !
I use Flightpower regulator - 8amp and the Flightpower Lipo - real stable - and no Align electrics!
Like the Droid says - 'Why?'

Droid:
I have read some bad thinks about the align 2 in 1 and I like to charge the batteries directly from a separate conector.

Well i'd just like to say that i've been using the Align 2 in 1's old and new, on the Align batteries on FASST with zero issues on 50's and 90's.

Had more trouble with Nimhs in the early days.

hmmmm....lipo's and regs are pretty good now. Certainly be careful of low voltage lockouts on inadequate NIMH batteries. But if you have high currnt nimh's...it's no problem. I've run 1950 FAUP cells for a while in one heli with no problems. Certainly is simple. And I'll continue to use then until they are past it. No reason to change.
