e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Thunderpower 1010C - dead?!

I turned on my power supply to power up my new Tp1010c and no activity from the charger, no power, nothing. I checked the power supply and it's putting out 13.8V with lots of current, so it's not that.

The charger's only a month old so I'm pretty suprised it has malfunctioned. I don't see a fuse or anything to change.

Any ideas?

Do I need redundant EVERYTHING to ensure I can keep flying? Sometimes this hubby can be pretty frustrating.

Thanks guys,

well, I brought it to work, plugged in into my old HP supply and it fired right up, sweet!

Yet my PS at home was humming away perfectly, 13.8V w/lots of balls to it

Okay, dumb question time.

1) the 1010 doesn't have any sort of sleep mode does it? It was powered up and sitting idle with no load for a few days

2) Is there a chance it just needed to be unplugged and rebooted so to speak?

I feel better now, just wasn't looking forward to sending this new unit into hobby services for 8 weeks!

Asked and Answered

if I was in a courtroom would the above two posts be an "asked and answered" situation?

OK, so this may be as obvious as putting your blades on backwards. Did you have the polarity correct ??.

Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have. !

polarity

yeah, polarity was correct. It was hooked up and idling for several days with no load. Maybe there was a power spike and it locked up charger with display turned off?

It was unplugged for 45 mins while I drove to work and when I plugged in there it worked just fine.

Maybe it overheated and had to cool down? Some parts still heat up even if you're not charging.

I'd vote for overheated= thermal shut down to protect the electronics.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.
