Cyclics..

I fly my buddies 500 all the time and it has lightning fast cyclics with stock flybar/paddles....

and I like fast cyclics

maybe you should just try cranking the ATV's on yours...we run about 135% on the ail/elev/pitch and it is Super fast on cyclics..

Headspeed is about 2900 on his also ...

well today i ordered the new carbon paddles and a 14t pinion. i figured i had enough cyclic throw but maybe i need more. ill bump up the headspeed and see what it does.

I assume you're using the stock motor and ESC on 6s. You'll like the 14t pinion much better. I have always thought the 500 comes to life when you run a hs of 2800 or more. That will definitely quicken your cyclic. You may want to put the stock flybar back on. It might put a lotmore strain on your motor.

Running 13 Tooth on 6S, its crazy fast and I've even toned down the ATV's to get it under control. I've used Align, Sabs and RCP and they are all very fast. Stock paddles, 85% middle to 100% throttle curve. Right off the charger to right when the beeper goes off, plenty of power. I'm not sure what my cyclic pitch as I've never measure it, I just set it up so the swash didn't bind and then flew it, it was nuts on the cyclic.

so i wonder why mine is slower. ill up the headspeed as which i feel is not what you guys are running. ill try the 14t also. i have the scorpion 1600 on 6s so i should have enough power to pull some pitch. i am only running 10-11 pitch also. should i run more pitch? im not into much 3d but to be able to do tic tocs would be nice. too slow right now

Because everyones idea of fast cyclic will be different. IMO the 500 is not capable of what I would call crazy fast cyclic. A good example would be the settings RappyTappy is explaining. That may seem crazy fast to him but having setup 4 with higher headspeeds than what that setup is capable of, and with cyclics set on the edge of binding, that would not be what I call crazy fast.

However..13T 6S on the stock motor is plenty of HS and cyclic speed for tic tocs.

So what would be the standard of crazy fast? it has to be in terms of number then so we could standardize it. Please Widowmaker give me a number of how many rolls per second you would call crazy fast and I'll go out there and time my rolls and see how many I can do in a second. Anyone else wanna give it a try, go ahead. Nappyroots, you can try it to and we'll see how fast yours compares as well. Just for convo, If you watch vids like of Alan Jr or Bert Kammerer would you say it looks as fast or slower?

Wow... taking it personally? Its an opinion. Your post before you edited said it was puzzling that I said the 500 was not capable of CRAZY fast cyclic. No more puzzling to me than you saying it is. Sorry I dont have number for you. I didnt say it was slow.. I said I did not consider it crazy fast.

Crazy fast to me is more like a 450 on 4S at about 3500 hs.

Sorry if I offended you by using your setup as an example.

No offense taken, I edited because I took into consideration of what you said and after thinking about it. I would like to see what a basis is to judge what is considered fast or slow now. Yes, my crazy fast may not be your crazy fast, so some numbers of roll rate per second or flip rate per second would be pretty good to determine what is fast, crazy fast or slow.

Ok its cool. I didnt mean it to sound like yours is slow. I would like to see some video of some stationary rolls as well. I think I have one of some I did but its in HD so I would have to edit it down and I didnt do many and what I did do was not well done

I know I'm going to time some stationary rolls and flips tomorrow, hopefully will be able to get a video as well.

faster servos will make handling better and get the swashplate at full tilt faster, but the roll rate is a combo of headpseed, blades, paddles and flybar length. Most usually headpseed makes the biggest difference on cyclic speed. Also, with the electrics, I've found that as the battery gets weaker, the heli will exhibit a slower cyclic rate. You can change anything you want in the head but if the battery/motor is not supply the power to keep the headspeed up during the load, there is no hope of getting any faster cyclic rate.

my stk 500 on a 14 pinion was fast for about a hundred flights, then i think the dampers wore out i'm ordering some soon, but i kinda like it that way now with the 1907 neu in it and the rt blades it was to fast till the dampers wore in i should chek my headspeed cause with the 1907 it's way faster then the stk motor on a 14 pinion.i'm guessing my headspeed is 3200 or above and talk about insane fast cyclics, roll's and flips are a blur , and my buddy has a beam e4 on 4 s at 3700 hs and this is faster.by alot probably 2 flips a second from a hover.

Ok here we go.. http://runryder.com/helicopter/t446766p1/ R38133 says his are blinding fast. That to me would be faster than crazy fast. Maybe we can get some video of some stationary flips on his setup and base it off that.

I felt that my 500 was depressingly slow when I first set it up, I gave it to steven gerrad to make it work and he cranked the servo travel up and it does bind at full pitch and full cyclic but you'll never get in that position. Now it flies like a proper 3d heli and does perform like you would expect but cyclics aren't as fast as my 90. It is plenty fast enough but I certainly wouldn't call it lightning.

Like Drunk Monk said, on my heli I have the ATV @ 150% & use the cyclic % to adjust travel & pitch, Super F'n Fast!!

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"
