Looking for a Power Jazz for a 810mm Electric. Wonder where I can get one, or if someone have one for Sale. How does the Castle Creation's reliability compare to the Power Jazz.

Wait for the Jive 80HV.

FXA was suppose to get PowerJazz in stock. Email them and ask. It should be soon.

Or you could order from Minicopter. Gerd has PowerJazz in stock.

thanks for posting that. I'm also in the market for a larger electric and have been a bit skitish hearing all the stories of damaged controllers. (no electric motor experience yet) So the Jive is from the same company as the often lauded Jazz, just an uprated version (with new protective features).
There really does seem to be alot of consideration needed for setting up the battery/motor/controllers correctly. Not an undertaking to be taken lightly.

Got that right... I'm currently in the process of selecting the appropriate motor for a Maxi Joker (V1) on a 12S lipo battery. I just got the powerjazz, but am now debating between the Actro 32-4 and the 32-5 motors. I know the 32-4 is used with 10S setups, but upping the voltage by 7.4 volts changes things dramatically. The 32-5 motor is rated at 330KV as opposed to the 32-4 at 415KV (KV = rpm/volt), which means using a 32-4 on 12S will undoubtedly produce too high a headspeed. If I simply dial down the throttle, I may be prone to overheating the ESC. I don't know of anyone using a 32-5 on a maxi joker, so I'm a little skittish, but hopefully I'll be able to figure it out... But yea, electrics are quite different than gassers/nitros, but at this point it's all I know...

PowerJazz is kick-butt. I have two and I'm thinking of getting a third if I can't find the Jive 80HV. I'm running 12s (2x6s) with Actro 32-4 and 32-3. After 12 minutes of flight the ESC is only at 32°C. Barely warmed up.

TrexRookie your digits are wrong. As mentioned above I'm running 12s with 32-4. I've tried 12T and 13T at 90% on TX with a head speed of 1400. Going to try 14T next. If you doubt me just ask Gerd. You can't go wrong.

My issue is that I am flying a maxi joker V1. The smallest pinion available is 20T. Each pinion has a specific mount because it is a direct (and very precise) gear mesh between the main gear and pinion. If I were to use a smaller pinion than 20T, I would need to have a custom mount machined. So my only alternative without having to get custom mounts machined is to go with a lower KV motor. Since the Joker 1 helicopters were built around Actro aircraft motors, my choices are limited. Very limited... I will likely have to go with a 32-5 aircraft motor with a 25T pinion, but I am not 100% certain... I'm not even 100% certain about the 32-5 at all. I've PMed Gerd about a million times and I feel bad for asking so many questions... If you have any other suggestions, information, or ideas, I'd appreciate the input. (I'm not even sure the 32-5 would be ideal in my situation)

I'm not sure on this so I'll ask and anyone can answer if you know the answer...

What's the difference between V1 and V2 motor belts?

I'm assuming the drive train is the same on both?

If there is no difference in belts and drive train then I don't see why you can't use the same pinions as what's being used on the MJ2.

The shaft of the 32-4 MAX is 8mm and the pinions of the MJ2 of course fits this size.

What are the differences between V1 and V2? Anyone got a picture? I've never seen one...

here's a pic of my heli (also found in my gallery)... I'll post more pics of it later.. There is no belt on the V1, which is why a new motor mount is needed for simple pinion changes. And it's a 2-piece motor mount; one for the top of the motor, the other for the bottom. Also note that the motors that the V1 Jokers use are the aircraft versions of the actro motors. The shaft size of the V1's are 5mm as well. Not a lot of choices when it comes to motors..

Well, the heli now has a new CF tail boom and some extended lower side frames to accomodate larger batteries. I'd like to go 12S because once I get a V2 Maxi I'll be running it on 12S as well. Also, my TRex600 runs on 6S 5000 packs... Ideally I'd like to have all my ships running on the same packs...

How come your Trex600 is ONLY running 6S? You slackin'? C'mon man... convert already...

This should tease ya... 32-3 MAX - 5mm shaft, 13T, PowerJazz, 710mm, 12s... best at 89% on TX. Getting 1800 HS.

LOL... I couldn't sleep... I'm at my LHS right now... HA! My eyes can't focus... It'll be a fun drive home...

The blackbox is actually awesome. It'll allow me to easily move eletronics from one heli to another.

Gotta stop shopping and go home!
