I'm looking to buy a few sheets of G10 and after attempting to order through McMaster Carr I received this reply email:

Due to the ever-increasing complexity of U.S. Export regulations, McMaster-Carr has decided to only accept orders from a few, long-established customers of ours overseas. We cannot accept your order, and regret any inconvenience this causes you.

Your order has been cancelled.

I'm interested in finding a list of alternative suppliers.

Good call Bigguy. I might give him a try now that he's back on board.

We don't have a great deal of G10 uncut on hand at the moment but may be able to help you out. PM me with the details.

Why G-10? Alum and CF performs a lot better. Personally, I'd stay away from anything G-10 unless it's just an aerobatic machine. That stuff is just too flexible to throw in the mix of heli and camera IMHO and if the design is such to provide ample rigidity, it's going to be heavy.

Have you worked with G-10 before? I'd bet quite a few people would argue that G-10 is perfect for many applications. I have entire mounts made of G-10 that work better than equivalent materials would.

Flying G10 for months. Load up the heli to 1.2 kg with no issues. No flexing, no breakage. Had a receiver power failure resulting in an 80 foot, full power crash which totalled camera, mount, carbon blades, etc. But through the rubble, the G10 survived without a scratch.
Its lighter than my stock plastic frame.

I began with G-10 ~10 years ago for mounts. I'm not saying it can't work. I'm simply saying CF and AL is superior, has higher e and maybe easier for Griffo that's overseas to obtain. ...AL is < $ besides, but needs a lot of homework done to get it light too. ... Okay, previous line here is an argument for G-10 and a homemade mount isn't it. :-)

Thanks for the headsup Kevin .

The material is for the construction of a stabilsed front mount for the Logo 600 and therefore will not be subjected to the same forces applied to a helicopter frame. Having said that I've flown a few G10 frames and they've held up just fine.

I did actually consider CF and aluminium but decided against it. I prefer G10 firstly because it is extremely easy to work with.

I also prefer G10 as it is a non conductive material unlike the other two options making electronics placement a non issue.

And last but not least G10 is CHEAP!

Thankfully Mark Webber has generously offered to help me out with McMaster. Mark, you da man!
