Guys,

I just received a set of TT's new "high performance carbon graphite rotor blades" in white gel coat. They're made in Germany and look very similar to the Evolution 3D - Gamma blades MA sells. You know... the ones no one (even MA & HeliProz) can get.
Here are the specs...

Carbon graphite, 680mm length, 12mm root, 176 grams, 4mm bolt hole with 5mm bushing included, 58.8mm chord, symmetrical with no washout, white gelcoat, metal reinforced root.

The finish is decent and they're very stiff.

Check them out here...

Blades

What would tell me how well they fly would be to know where they have placed their blade bolt hole (chordwise), the location of the Chordwise Center of Gravity, the location of their spanwise Center of Gravity, the location of their Center of lift, airfoil and tip shape. These will effect the dynamic performance of the blade a lot more then will their stiffness or looks. Their are a lot of stiff, good looking blades out their that do not address these issues properly.

Making a blade stiff and good looking is very easy and relatively "low tech". Dealing with the issues that effect the dynamics properly is a lot more difficult.

You two old guys

David, I think you knew Billy Pearce (Enterprise AL), but did oldfart know him too?
Billy had me hooked on heli's in late 79 to early 80's time frame but lack of funds (and a child) got me out of the hobby.
I sure miss watching him work his meticulous techniques on his Kalts.

Nice looking blades, Gasser man.

Keep us informed on their flying.

Blades,

Hi David,

My wife still thinks I don't know much. Ever since the World Championships in Poland she now also thinks I'm ugly too . Heck if she liked pizza she may even think you were cute.....maybe its that suthern drawl of yours.

I guess something has to rub off over time.

Have you had a chance to talk to Scott Gray about the blades I designed for him ?

He seemed to like them a lot at your Nats and at the Muncie World Championships

Hey OldFart!

So what blades, that are currently available, do you think do take the properties you mentioned into account properly? And are all a great blade should be. Just curiouse. And I am sure there are a few others that might like to know as well.

Blades

Hi BB

Sorry I have had little time of late for forum typing.

The blades I know to test out well this way are the new Rotor-Tech Carbon Fiber (these are the ones refered to re: Scott Gray) ones and the LT series from Leisure-Tech.

The Rotor Tech's are sold through Century, Heli World are they not? I might just have to try a set in the future. Thanks for the heads up. OH and where would one take a look at the Leisue Techs?
