Got some good head speed numbers last nite on my wide cord SAB's.

Average high end hover when up to heat, comes right in at 1780 RPM.

Last batch of mix is a bit rich.

Bird on the up hill side of collective is but pretty quick with no power loss.

Down hill side still feels like it has a bit of dwell or lag as almost I'm catching it, \ preety darn sensitive for my feel.

Is it the weight ' or my collective management skill's.

Any tips ???

Any one have some head speed averages ???

Should I try to obtain more than then 1750 to 1780 RPM.

Running about -5 on the bottom of the collective- is their a method to sweeten or soften the bottom side of the collective ???

Jack,, your head speed sounds good to me,, as for the collective,, more practice will help,, At 1750 with a 6.43:1 gear ratio,, your at 11252.5 on engine rpm, the heli should be lively at those rpm's,, Keep flying it and you will get used to how it feels rather quickly,, XGM/VGM

It's all down to the gearing. At 6.9 on my Predator with the 231 I ran 2000 rpm on the head. With the 7.15 in my Spectra, I run 1850. Both put the engine in the 13200 range, and it works great there.

Dunno what to tell you about the lag you're feeling, are you feeling it in idle up? Are you running a governor? Gassers definitely don't stop as fast as glow helis, so that may be what you're feeling, but I'm betting it's down to headspeed and pitch curves.

The Lag I'm Feelling

Johnny you crack me up - I guess I need more Rasin Bran

The Lag I feel is like I'm just not soft or slow comming out of hover or FF.

I really hate notching the up collective as I settle, comming down although I have ton's of up elevator reserve power

Really like to get the two gassers smoother as I settle. ALmost wonder if I could change the linier style pith curve.

Been messing with a Pair of R's - a stinkey gooy E 30 and a ra generator equiped 52 and their just the opposite. Can't get em down even on a fast forward approach with a bit of negative. Even did a slider the other day with the 30.

Almost feel's as if the collective is on a High Rate setting.
