I crashed the titan yesterday! I just replaced the tail case and shaft... got it in the air.. then bammm tail locked up and started spinning.. now I didn't know to go to T-Hold until later.. however; crashed hard. Come to find out.. the pin that goes before the pully came out. Guess I should have glued it or lock tite... lesson learned the hard way...

Does anyone know where I can buy an upgrade for the tail.. say CNC ...that won't break the bank?

Make a retainer to stop said pin making an untimely departure.
Do a search. There's loads of info on this.

Maverick brand does make a all aluminum tail piece that is pretty
nice..
My brother in law (Fullpitch) has it on his Titan, he also went with
the aluminum pulleys!
It is a step up from the factory plastic tail and it is reasonable in price. check it out!

RAPTOR 30/50 Tail Case part number: RT-07

RAPTOR 30/50 - V1 - V2 & TITAN Machined from solid, this tail casing is lighter than the original plastic unit and offers superb structural integrity. The tail drive shaft has been centralized, this allows for equal belt clearance within the boom and removes the need for the small "id...

Quick U.K do aluminium tail pulleys as well as loads of up grades for the raptor.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!

As I mentioned, the Maverick tail is the next step up from factory
Thunder Tiger parts..(not plastic)!
As far as the pulleys they are readily available at either Heliproz
in the Maverick selection.
NOW if you want to "get off the wallet" for better pieces instead
of the Maverick both Quick UK and Kasama make excellent pieces...
As far as Fullpitch's tail (the maverick brand) I have watched him
3D the snot out of his bird and no failures..
AND during his last crash (oh, he killed my 600mm V-Blades) he was
buckled the boom but the tail section just needed cleaning from the
ground impact....

Good luck on your choice

Pulley pin

You will still have to retain the pin in the cnc tail case. Cnc tail case will not make the heli preform better either, just fancy. That pin has a tendency to come out on all the raptor tail pulleys that i know of you have to glue it or make a retaining sleeve that slides over end of pulley and locks in the pin. If you glue it drill a hole in the tail case where the pin is a little smaller than the size of a pencil so you can see the pin without taking apart the tail case and check it before you fly every time! do a RR search on it Sorry to hear about the crashes

Fly it ! Crash it ! Rebuild it ! Repeat as needed !!

He's talking about a Titan not a 90. Inspection hole in the 90 is good practice though.

You don't use the stock tail shaft and gear on the Quck and Kasama tails, NO pin!

You will like the Quick UK, I've got the Kasama tail grip assy. on it. Both on E550 and E620se. It's a real good set up.

I suggested the Maverick tail due to the low cost and
the ability to have the "PIN" exposed...
This will allow easy inspection and no-internal case hang ups!

You won't have flexing, the sides aren't that large.
Good Luck!

well come to find out is that the crash was my fault completely!!! I purchased the new plastic tail case ..assembled it in at the field. Now, after I've tore the bird apart guess what I found out!!!?? I neglected to put the SET SCREW at the end of the shaft. Apparently it goes in deep enough to apply pressure on that pin to prevent it from popping out (as in my case). So, for those of you who read this.. Locktite the set screw all the way in, and CA the tips of the pulley!!!!!

I tallied the cost around 250 (including the mavirkk tail case upgrade and blades).

I've done a lot of research on the different manufactures of these R50 tail case and it seems that the mavirkk actually has good reviews.. I'll let you know how it goes...

On a final note, when I pulled the case off I found melted plastic around the end of the pulley from where the pin seperated and started rubbing..

Also, I'll be practicing autos with T Hold.. hopefully if this happens again that will at least give me a chance to land..

I have the Kasama tail case and it uses a set screw and a aluminum pulley instead of a pin.

ya know.. as a much as I preflight and sweat the small stuff.. it still can happen. A lesson was taught the hard way.. don't put something together in a hurry without the manual or someone around you who whom has done that a thousand times!!!

Honesty is the best policy...

sounds like my mother..
