I have bought a gy401, and have all the other bits to make up a boom mounted servo set-up for my Raptor 30. Whilst I can probably guess at the rod length after mounting the servo etc, is there a specific length for it as I can't find one listed any where, just sats cut rod to length.

Cheers BillW.

Do yourself a favor and leave it in the canopy

We all have our favourite positions for the servo, mine happens to be boom mounted, hence the request for the length of the rod.
Regards.

I too am in favor of servo mounting on the boom and ignored lots of peoples advice when I started to mount under the canopy!Well a couple of crashes and a couple of oil-soaked(ruined) tail servos later, the only place for the tail servo is under the canopy! If I would have listened I would have alot more beer money in my wallet now!

I have been flying now for some 6 years, having started when I retired at 60, since that time every heli that I have had, mainly Raptor 30, 50, 60, have had boom mounted servo's and I have not had a single incident of an oil soaked servo. They do get a bit on and providing it is cleaned after every session, as I do, I find that it causes no problems at all. My original question remains, has anyone any idea of the length of the carbon rod?

cheers

Theres lots of tail-mounting servo applications that can be used on the raptors Bill. The length of the rod will vary depending on the tail servo mounting system you are using.

I guess that the best thing to do then is to assemble all the bits that I have, including the rod ends and measure it myself. Thanks.
