e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Lost a cell?

Okay LiPo experts and all alike. It appears that I have lost a cell.
During a flight, got a pop in power and immediately landed. After putting the pack (5S) on the TP210, it only showed cells 1,2 4,5.
On another type of cell checked, showed cell #3 at 1.1 volts. Pack is ever so slightly puffed.
Now what? (Besides ordering another pack which I have already done).

IMO- you have two, no make that three options.

Salvage it by cutting out the bad pack and:

1)Turn it into two 7.4 volt packs
2)Turn it into one 14.8 volt pack

Or

3)discard it as hazardous waste.

I'd rather be flying

Rather than option 3, see if the manufacturer has a trade-in or repair program. Several do.

How many cycles and how old?

Battery only 1 1/2 years old. Only 31 cycles, each cycle recorded with flight time and mah's put back in. Never more than 80% discharge, usually about 70%.
Got a reply back from Flightpower already, "We haven't made Evo 20's in over two years, if you have proof of purchase within last 90 days we will replace".
Gee thanks.

FlightPower has a half price replacement policy for crash damaged batteries. You will need to contact them and provide a digital photo of the (a) crash damaged aircraft and the battery. I did read that your battery was damaged in a crash, correct?

Got it down safely, kind of scary though when you lose power in a flight like that. No mention of of replacement for crash in emails I got from FlightPower, only 90 day policy.

Alot of companies have changed there cells in the last 1 1/2 years. Good luck finding another. In fact all of the lipos have prob changed in that time.

Maybe try finding a used one to salvage the cell.

OPTION #5
Offer the remaining cells for sale on RR. Fully disclose the status and what happened. Show a picture (with ruler for size) and some hacker will buy for custom cell build.

Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have. !

kcordell, go to the above site for info on crash replacement. I've used their crash replacement recently after a battery went bad outside of the 90 day warranty period. Usually takes about a week to get your new battery. BTW, I haven't crashed hard enough to destroy a battery in a very long time.

Been there and already a reply from FlightPower. Basically since I didn't crash (I must be a hell of a pilot, LOL) they won't do anything. They were very specific about the 90 day deal. I replied to a couple questions they had and gave them some more information and no further response. I really didn't expect too much from them. All it cost me was an email to check and see. I will corner Clint at IRCHA and see if he can help.
