Ive been around a bit now, know some stuff, blah, blah. Did my first inverted flying the other day, so as you might guess, I am just finishing a rebuild

As I put the tank fittings on and made sure the exhaust pipe was sticking up to the top of the tank (pressure line in tank), I wondered what happens when Im inverted? The exhaust gas must be bubbled into the gas, that can't be good, Right??

It's going to mix with the fuel either way. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.

Its good, only enough comes in to replace the fuel used, its not like a snorkel in a fish tank. Some guys use a oneway valve, to maintain a more constant presure.

you could also do a uni-flow tank, though I've never tried it or felt the need. I do quite a bit of inverted flying

The solution is to tap the backplate and use crank case pressure to pressurize the tank. That's how it works with my YS, fantastic set up. Say bye bye to exhaust gases. It does require a regulator to the carb to make it work though. Not sure if you HAVE to have the 1 way valve, but it does keep the pressure constant.

dont wory it wont hurt anything. the exhaust pulses from the muffler can cause bubling when not inverted also.nothing to wory about.

No need to screw up the backplate by drilling it, tapping it, and putting in a pressure fitting, then connecting a pump/regulator. And there's no need to screw around with the uniflow set up.

After all, this was only a question about "what happens inside the tank when the heli is upside down".

Don't add a bunch of complexity to a system that works simply because you asked a question. Besides, even with a pump/backplate pressure/regulator/uniflow system, you still haven't changed the fact that air is pumped into the tank.

The muffler pressure tap simply provides a source of positive pressure for the fuel system to help fuel flow to the carb. It doesn't matter if you're right side up or upside down, the tank remains pressurized.

As long as you use muffler pressure, exhaust gas enters the tank. Over time it appears this tends to rot the fuel line inside the tank. Replace the hose in the tank on a yearly basis, you'll be OK.

You could add a (bubble trap) header tank that also gives you a little reserve.

Fly it ! Crash it ! Rebuild it ! Repeat as needed !!

Sorry if my post hit you wrong. I only posted that information as a response to the original question if the exhaust gases were good to have going into the fuel.
