I bought an ATG to run in my Vibe 50, since the magnets are in the clutch bell, are you guys running just one magnent or two?

One is fine. Use two if you want to balance the clutch bell

I'm just running one and using washers to balance it.

I would use 2 to keep it as balanced as possible. Some people here are saying that hum noise that some of us are getting possibly is coming from the clutch to engine alignment so I would not take any chances with the clutch being unbalanced and introducing any other issues.

ATG

One magnet is fine, there is no need for two.

Don’t have time now but can some one calculate the centrifugal force a missing magnet will apply???

Yes I know haw to do the maths.... but don’t have time..

You Guys with out a magnet are going to install them in no time after that.

It definitely works with only one magnet but you are stressing your bearings with out need and having unnecessary vibrations on your heli.

I so your pic and I think that’s dangerous… 17,000 RPM

I'd go with two magnets, they come in pairs.

Why would you want to knowingly make it unbalanced?

I'd rather be flying

Just using some rough numbers I came up with.

Magnet = 0.001 kg
Distance from center = 0.02 meters
Angular velocity = 17,000 rpm = 1780ish rad/sec

Fc = mrw^2

Fc = 63N = 14lbs of force.

3Dx, Iv been gluing washers for year and never had a problem. CA works very well with shear stress.

Good to know, Thanks

So haw much the Vibe weight???

7lbs???

Ok that means 2 helis together rotating on the clutch bell at 17,000

Thanks for the maths Topher!!

No

It means that the force of the magnet is the same as 2 helis HANGING on the static clutch bell. Not rotating at 17K...

Anyway, its still way too much
