Ace Dude was right: the 0606i and 0606i AC/DC are only 50W

Blbills – you will always need an external power supply if you want to charge over 50W – you can’t have that much electronics and heat in a small charger case.

Colburn you just PM’d me – I wish you had read this thread!

I said the 0606i would only charge a 6S pack at 2.1 Amps. (What I predicted, what I found, and what you also told me).

To charge a 6S 5000 pack at 10Amps (2C) you need at least 222 Watts – the NET is 250W.

Yes the NET has ‘bells and whistles’ but most of it is just precautions and safety.
Some people love all the information.

Sorry you chose the wrong charger.

Astro 109 for $130 bucks is a great deal. I have been using it for over 1 1/2 years and it has always detected the right cell count and have never fail me, great value. I have seen them for sale used for $70 here.

Got to have my cup of heli in the morning.

I took the 606 back and got the 610. I was more upset that the LHS didn't tell me the charge limit. When I told them, they didn't know either.

I wasn't upset with Hyperion.....

I should have the 610 NET soon.

Cam, why didn't you guys just put a USB port on the chargers for updates like Castle Creations?

That seems to be the problem with hobby shops – just box pushers 99% of the time.

USB port? I don’t know! If it had a USB port instead of servo-style pins, the Sync cable and the thermometer would also have to have USB plugs, which is a bit over-kill for such small things.

You can use an existing Ti-Prog ESC programmer lead and a servo cable to do the firmware update.

Many of the current "better" batteries state they support 2C charging. This includes Outrage, Kong Power, FMA and many others. In fact many of us have been charging at 2C for many months with ZERO problems. Talking to FMA about it, they say any good condition battery can be charged at 2C or 3C with no ill effects to the battery or safety. I have taken this seriously and have been very happy to have the 30 minute charge times.

I recommend you stop the 2C and 3C charging. Hyperion has a few paragraphs on why not to charge 3C and I doubt KP would tell you charging at 2C is ok.

Just yesterday Outrage sent me a message saying NOT to charge at 2C. Ya, Outrage packs are wicked, but it's not worth the extra 15 minutes to cut the packs life in half. The price for 5kmAh packs these days, 1C is just fine!

Kong Power states directly "Maximum charge is 3C".

I can't find Outrages policy.

(Using the Cellpro chargers of course) FMA Direct recommends 3C max charge rates for good quality, high discharge rate batteries of 12C or higher.
