Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Solid G on Aurora?

Anybody using a Solid G on the Aurora? I have both a Spartan and Solid G sitting here in the box. I think I would like to try the Solid G but do not have any parameters for it.

Has anybody set one up yet? Or has Curtis made some parameters for it yet?

I'm using the Solid-G on my Aurora. I started with the Synergy settings thinking I would tweak them from there. But, I haven't had to change a thing. One thing I will point out is that I originally put the ball on the tail servo at 14mm out because I wanted to use more of the range on the gyro. I had some problems in extremely fast backwards flight when the tail was going from one extreme to the other in rapid succession (e.g. during snake maneuvers) with the tail blowing out. I tried increasing the gain but that didn't solve the problem. I move the ball out tot he recommended 19mm on the tail servo and haven't had a problem yet. Mine is locked in solid at 46% gain on the Solid-G.

Between the Solid-G and the Spartan I like the Solid-G so far.

I will put the Spartan on my 700N since it came off of the Xtreme. If I don't like it I'll pull the Solid-G off the 600N and replace it.

Bert flew my Xtreme and Trex on the same day a couple weeks ago, and the one he commented on with a "whoa!" was the Solid-G.

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

Have you flown with a Spartan? I would love to hear some feed back from people that have flown both. I have been using the Spartan on my Stratus but I have had a few issues with the tail not holding during hard climb-outs and some manuevers.

That's part of the reason I want to try the Solid G.

Hey Ghost, PM me with your settings and setup. I have a Spartan on my Stratus and it's nuts. Extremely consistent in maneuvers like piro funnels and serpents where gyros are known to suffer. Also don't have any problems with the tail giving out in fast hurricanes or tail slides.

jp,

I am pretty much running it stock out of the box with the exception of stops are softened by about 15%. How far out do you have the ball on the servo arm?

The main problem I am having is during climb outs, the tail kicks out. If I turn the gain up, I get tail shakes during funnels and things like that.

Better yet, what are your settings?

Shoot me your email address and I can send you my config file.

FWIW, I'm running a 9256. Gain on my DX-7 is 44% which is actually %30 according to the config. editor. As far as lengths I can measure that stuff in the morning but I can tell you that I have it setup to 113/115 on the endpoints.

I'm going to play around with the stop gains and what not next time I fly just to see what might change but so far I'm extremely impressed as was my buddy who's flying a Solid-g on his Stratus.

Try this Sam:

[Gyro]
Product=ds760
Application version=107
Firmware version=107
Memory Map version=2
User comments=
[Servo]
High endpoint=115
Low endpoint=113
Midpoint trim=70
Servo=9
Speed=6
Type=1
[Common]
Direction=1
Rudder stick deadband=5
[Mode 1 (Rate Mode)]
Rudder exponential=0
[Mode 2 (AVCS Mode)]
Acceleration profile=15
Deceleration profile=12
Clockwise stop gain=100
Counter clockwise stop gain=100
Rudder exponential=0
Rudder sensitivity=120

Just copy and paste it to a text document and then change it to a .ssf extension.

FWIW, the ball on my servo horn is 16mm out. For my horn, this is going to be the 4th position out.

I run Solid-G on mine with Stratus parameter set, works like a charm.

You should expect better from the ds760. This is most likely the case that the gain it not high enough. Keep in mind that other reasons may cause the tail to start wagging at a lower gain value before the optimal gain is reached. Any play or stiffness in the linkages or gritty bearing or slow servo will all contribute to that.

Sorry, I've never flown the Spartan. Always wanted to try it, but never could get my hands on one. Now I've got everything fitted with the Solid-G and very happy.

I'm using a 9256.

I'm going to try and get some video pretty soon but like I said, it works awesome.

Before I forget, go to the setup screen on the computer and right click and run diagnostics. In the bottom left, it should tell you what gain the Spartan is seeing. Let us know that number along with the endpoints.

^^

Very nice, never knew that feature 26%(37% on 9303 travel adjust) gain on my aurora with 20mm servo length distance.

mike4406,
I am not sure why your ticket has not been answered yet but I know John is looking at it and was planning to order a hard disk to install Vista 64bit. I believe the driver we have on the website is 32bit only but we will try to release a 64bit one soon.
