JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > One way lockup... This isn't my day.

In 3 or 4 years I've never had a single one way lockup. Not even on the 600N which has to be the heli with most one way lock ups in RC history

I always was convinced that the main reason for a one way to lock up was due to builder error, i.e. some people tight down the lower jesus bolt too much and this deforms the one way sleeve which then locks up in the one way itself. I posted several times about this, warning people not to tight the lower jesus bolt down too hard.

Well, last week I think, we were discussing the wobble you can see on the lower tail gear (80T) on the vibe 50 and some suggested to line up the lower gear and once it was perfectly leveled, to tighten down the lower jesus bolt. At first I was a little against it because of my beliefs about the one way but then I figured that the vibe 50 has a 3 times thicker sleeve than the 600N so there shouldn't be a problem... I tighted the thing down.

4 flights later the freaking one way locks up on me. I didn't even realised it until I got home and started to mess with the bird and I needed to turn the tail rotor. Its when I saw the one way was locked. Well at least now I know that the bird does pushover autos with radix Sbs even with a locked one way.

Anyway, I removed the gears and unlocked the sleeve. No visible marks on the sleeve but the one way itself is toast. A needle fell out when I inserted the sleeve again...grrr

Luckily I have spares so I'm going to exchange the whole one way unit and sleeve and then try to get my hands on just the one way bearing and sleeve but damm me... why ìs all this sh**t happening to my favorite bird?

Update

New one way unit installed, did a few flights with it. Its working perfectly now.

Now I wonder if I should buy a new unit (to replace the one I removed from the kit) or if I should just replace the one way and sleeve. The biggest issue would be to remove the bearings from the old unit. I have no clue how Im going to pull those bearings out since they are loctite in the metal body like a sandwich. Any ideas

just like the bearing in a motor put it in the oven at 350deg for a bit and it should come right out or press out. dont forget to wear gloves it will be hot.....lol

I thought of that but the engine bearing isn't loctite in place like this one and there are 3 in there (2 radials, one oneway) pressed together. I have a bearing puller (or should I say pusher) but that won't work to push all 3 bearings together especially because I don't know if there is a machined wall in the middle of the auto unit.
