I am wondering if you need install supports on the tail boom if you run a Carbon tail rotor push rod from the boom mounted servo to the tail rotor?

On my Evo 50 I left the middle one on when fitting the Hirobo carbon rod. It is working well. To protect the carbon from wearing I put some of the really thin teflon type heat shrink on it.

I have the same set up for my 50 and 90, one support mid point with the teflon heat shrink to protect the carbon rod
Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would fall off.
The only hiccup to not running any supports is that if either link pops off the ball, the pushrod falls away and hangs during the subsequent auto and will tear something else up. If notheing else the support takes the weight of the pushrod off the links, less chance of the pushrod falling off to begin with.

No support on my 50s.
If your worried about the link popping off the ball, put a small washer on top of the link and ball when screwing in. Extra insurance.

I had a carbon rod without supports. It popped off and I had a terrible crash from it. Now I have the Quick Uk set up and it has one support at the horizontal tail fin. Its great.
Man, I miss the eighties.

With the rocket city links the ball wears out first, so I keep an eye on them. Thats right, the ball wears out first. I know it sounds funny but its true. Tom
