Am I right in assuming that the air and surface DSM2 2.4 hrz. receivers are the same in function? Maybe I better explain what it is I'm looking at. My Grandson is in a wheel chair and is racing rc cars on a indoor track, he needs to use a transmitter with sticks so I fixed up a CX-2 heli radio (2.4) to work like his old 2 ch stick radio. I was looking at the receivers and they say air and surface, that's why I ask the question.
What do you guys think? (i don't want to use the 4in1 out of the heli)

I believe they operate on different frequency bands. You could just get a DX6 w/6100 receiver and use it in a car.

No, they are both on the same 2.4 GHz band. I believe the surface receivers simply aren't intended for air use. An air receiver should work perfectly fine on the ground. Sounds like the CX2 tx is compatible with DSM2 receivers.
