The Hyperion manual for 1.5 says its not a trickle, Its just the last few mah charge. It just says "trck" or something like that. I think there is a fix for relabeling it.

Thats right

When the CC part of the charge ends and it goes to CV, the chargers used to display 'TRK' as used in the NiCd and NiMh settings, since the current was tapering off.

However this IS NOT a trickle charge - it is the CV part of the charge. It is going to be relabeled to BLC - for balance. Which is really all that happens when the cells are between 4.1 and 4.2 volts each. CC charging LiPo's above 4.1 volts per cell si not safe, which is why the charger does this.

Also when the chargers are finished they should just say END, and you won't be able to turn the buzzer until you unplug the battery

If he uses the LiPo Settings and sets everything correctly and plugs everything in, in the right order and doesn’t leave his battery plugged in all night, he’ll be fine.

Where’s his post?

Heli 770, thanks for pointing me to the right place. I asked about the trickle charge as after my pack has already ended the charge and displays end, I sometimes forget it for a couple of hours plugged in. When i come back, I can see that there is some activity going on with the charger and it seems to be 'trickle' charging. I am assuming wrong or is it just the battery slowly stabilizing?

I normally don't leave it overnight but sometimes a couple of hours is not uncommon. Thanks in advance.

You should not be leaving your batteries unattended.

The charger will constantly balance the pack, so some current is being diverted around the high cells and through the balancer, this current originally comes from the main power cables on the EOS chargers.

The 1.6 firmware has new features that allow the chargers to cope with badly out-of-balance packs, but you never know what shape your pack is in until you start charging it so you should never leave them out of sight.

Hello Cam,

I was wondering why they dont make the net with a ac/dc input that is rated higher then 50 watts. Is the ac/dc ver as good as the net?

Thanks

Oh and one more ? Can you charge two 3s packs at the same time with the net? Or can you charge 4 3s packs at the same time with the duo?

Yes you can. I have the Duo and I regularly charge and balance 4 3S packs at the same time.

See this post from RCG.
Here's the whole thread.

The 0606i AC/DC is only rated at 50W. The NET is rated at 250W. The problem is the transformer would be getting too large to fit inside the charger. Most DC PSU’s are at least 4 times the size of the charger!

Yes, you can charge any combination of battery types and cell counts on the DUO at the same time- in SOLO mode.
To charge them is SYNC mode – if you fly with them wired together in-flight, they have to be the same type, capacity and cell count.
