Yes. I have just checked 5 of them and they are starting-up on port 2. WHat a pest. I don't know why I've never noticed this. On the pre-production one it had 'I' and 'II' instead of '1' and '2' and I'm sure the ports were the opposite way around. I'm mailing the boss -he's at the charger factory now.

What do you mean "You can't go up and down"???

Some foreign language reads from top to bottom. Being in the U.S. I am use to starting from the left. {It was a joke}

You press Mode to go across the main menus and Up-Down to get to the settings within those menus. I read left-to-right, in English and have no trouble. I find the DUO's easier to use than the 0403i just because of the menus.

Cam....

I got my Hyperion Duo today and all I can say is WOW! This thing is really well built. I played with it for about 10 mins and practically memorized all the menus. Freakin Sweet!

I really like the voltages display from the balancer.

Very nice, very nice indeed.

I just purchased the 610iNET, as I only need 6s capability, and think it's a FANTASTIC charger! It is easy to use, very versatile, reasonably priced, extremely capable, and has excellent tech support (thanks, Cam!).

I would highly recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

Internal cell resitance measurable?

Is the internal cell resitance measurable on the DUO?

If not, why not, just curious? I am looking at either buying this or a newly released charger from a competitor which has this feature.

I am not trying to start a "feature war" here either, just trying to evaluate, thanks!

I belive it displays the resistance across all cells.

Who would prefer ‘1C, 1.5C and 2C’ options instead of setting the amps?

Internal Resistance? I haven’t looked for that… The NET and DUO will show you pack resistance but I haven’t checked if it does it for each cell – I normally jump over all the info in the balance menu – ‘Mode’ ‘down 3 times’ look at all voltages. (when you’re checking ten chargers in between other jobs you look for the important stuff).

WHY do you need to know cell resistance? You only need to know any two of volts, amps and resistance and the charger tells you volts and amps. All electronics, be it a mechanical amp meter (AVO) or something digital, they all use two to work out the third.

Resistance is largely dependant on the cell’s temperature, random numbers… (GimbalFan has a thread for that)… http://runryder.com/helicopter/t435...wrinkle+in+time

Why do I need cell resitance measurements??

I'll be d@&m'd if I know.

The new FMA chargers information states this is a good way of indicationg the health of the pack.

I'm just getting into electric stuff, and am looking for a LiPo charger and at this point it's between the FMA and Hyperion DUO and I'm trying to figure this stuff out, so I thought I'd ask.

good way of indication the health of the pack.

The DUO does this - it tells you the pack resistance in milli-Ohms.

It's not a direct indication because it varies with rated capacity, type of cell, temperature and state of charge.

Hyperion has "LCL", "LCX", "VX" (Voltage Extreme) and "VZ" (Voltage Zenith) packs and they all have different internal resistances.

Quality LiPo packs do not 'just go wrong'. A LiPo will fail because you over discharged it or let it get too hot, often the case is just one cell is discharged too much, it's much easier to do this on cheap packs because their have low specs.

The VZ packs can always be charged at 2C because their IR is low - it doesn't generate any heat and so the polymer doesn't get crystallized.

Robot Birds

http://robotbirds.com/catalog/

I remember buying a C&K 2C-20-310 motor for a shockflyer from them several years ago for something crazy like 40 quid! Now my place supplies them!

I assembled about 50 of those motors a few months ago and they were only sold for 16 bucks a piece

Thanks cam.

I was really struggling to get hold of one, and was worried about back up and spares etc.

I cant make my mind up whetehr to get the duo or the single charger, The most I will probably have is 6 cells so i suppose any one would do.

Good luck

The last bullet in your opening post, you mention a computer interface. Where can I get, or what software is needed to run the interface?

Busher if you get the NET you can always get another NET later on and sync them to charge larger that 6S packs, plus that woudl be a combined 500W instead of the DUO's 360W.

You need a Ti-Prog (same thing used to program TITAN ESC's) to connect the chargers to the PC. The PC software is in the Hyperion site.
