| The conversion should work fine because the same carbon frames you had will mate up just fine with the Evo uppers; I did that on two models. You're just coming in from the other direction.
To make the clutch stack work, you have a few options:
Purchase an Evo bell and clutch
or (stay with me on this) you can use your existing bell with a new Evo clutch if the place a 10x19x5 mm bearing in the frames ABOVE the UPPER 6 mm ID clutch bearing. Since the Evo added a second 10x19x5 bearing to the bell, if you use an X-Spec bell, you need the bearing I mentioned to keep your bell from going too far up into the Evo frame's recess for the bearing stack. It's there for nothing more than spacing in this instance.
IMO, get the bell and clutch; the extra bearing support on the Evo bell is worth the money.
