I am coverting my crashed X-Spec to plastic lower frames.
I apologize for rehashing these old question(s)

Can I use the lower Freya Evo frames: 0414398 MAIN FRAME ELS05
with the X-Spec originals upper frames 0414120?

Or do I need to match it with he Evo upper frames too 0414399 - SERVO FRAME ELS05

I dont know if the clutch bell/gear may not fit on the double bearing stack of the Evo Uppers.
thanks

The conversion should work fine because the same carbon frames you had will mate up just fine with the Evo uppers; I did that on two models. You're just coming in from the other direction.

To make the clutch stack work, you have a few options:

Purchase an Evo bell and clutch

or (stay with me on this) you can use your existing bell with a new Evo clutch if the place a 10x19x5 mm bearing in the frames ABOVE the UPPER 6 mm ID clutch bearing. Since the Evo added a second 10x19x5 bearing to the bell, if you use an X-Spec bell, you need the bearing I mentioned to keep your bell from going too far up into the Evo frame's recess for the bearing stack. It's there for nothing more than spacing in this instance.

IMO, get the bell and clutch; the extra bearing support on the Evo bell is worth the money.

From what you are saying then the original upper frame should work fine with the Evo lower frames. Right?

Yes it will work.

What goes up, Has to come down. Usually in 1 piece.

You can, but it's not a conversion, more a replacement
And it would be more expensive than buying an Ex

You are right Jafa, and that is what I want to do, keep it cost effective at this time. The weight savings it not worth it for my flying skill level.
If I want it to be lighter, I would go for the Avant diet plan.
