When 1st put this motor/muffler in it went thru some glow plugs, alot of glow plugs. Then it settled down. I just opened my next gal of fuel, which makes about 2+ gals on the current plug, seems like alot. Since Im not doing intended Autos just yet,
How much time/gals are you guys getting out of a glow plug?

This is easy.

Between 0.5 and 200 flights

Anyway, Pistol Pete is right... around 50 on average if you're not pushing too hard.

60-70 flights/plug, they last a long time when you don't run them lean.

Damn that ground is hard!

I agree, "works good lasts a long time" The only time I went through glow plugs is when my rear bearing in my OS 50 Hyper started to fail causing metal fragments to short out the plug.

One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

Running the engine to lean (hot) will cause it to eat plugs.

I'd rather be flying

Don't know all the tell tell signs of the plug going out but I know of one, If when you pull off the glo starter and the idle goes down then its time for a new plug.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

WATCH FOR DISTORTION OF THE ELEMENT AND IF THE GLOW IS ONLY ON THE BOTTOM END OF THE PLUG RATHER THAN THE ENTIRE PLUG

shut up and fly

Spoken by someone whos ready willing and (key word) ABLE for autos from any position.
Or in other words not me YET (another key word)

You would be suprised how ABLE you're to do autos when you suddently have a dead stick. My best autos (even inverted) are when the engine suddently dies, I start screaming Oh sh** Oh sh**, and then muscle memory kicks in and you bring in the bird silently just with the blades fluttering. Priceless.

Obviously, sometimes everything goes wrong and you dork it Kinda reminds me the time when I ran out of fuel on my vibe 50 during the leaned back position of a tic toc... I was pretty low but far away. Managed to flip it over but no headspeed left... bird shot through a tree right into some bushes... no damage besides my pride

Go out there and practice autos. THey will save you $$ in the long term and are one of the most enjoyable stunts you can do with a heli

Yea, I can do em on the sim like a pro but in RL havent pulled the trigger just yet ( kinda like my 1st inverted was today). I fly off a hill so have been shy to start autoin'. I need to find a good flat spot and get going on that. First looks like I have yet ANOTHER big rebuild to get thru first.
