I'm looking at getting a new BW Stratus, what do you use to start this thing? I assume a standard starter shaft won't work because MA sells that other starter shaft. If thats what I have to use then how do I switch that shaft out with the regular shaft without taking the whole thing apart each time. Would it be better to get another dynatron?

What MA special tools should I get?

Should I run 690's or 710's?

Are the stock Paddles worth running?

What length tail blades should I get?

Hello, you can use either the proflex starter shaft (MA product) or you can put a standard 6mm hex adapter on the clutch shaft and use a normal starter. For the MA tools I would get a fan puller and a swash leveler. The roll pin tool is also handy to have.
710 blades are what most guys use and the stock paddles work pretty well. Depending on what main blades you use the stock paddles might want to be pitchy in fast forward or backward flight. I am using 95mm v-paddles on one stratus and 90mm on the other, dont notice much difference. 105mm tailblades for sure.

You might want to pick up some snap ring pliers as well. You'll also want a dial indicator w/ base, and a dubro hi-point balancer.

What do I need to put a 6mm hex adapter on? I assume I have to grind a flat spot in the shaft for the grub screw but what hex adapter fits the shaft?

Thanks Brian I have a dial indicator and balancer but I will need to pick up a snap ring pliers.

I'm using a Raptor hex adapter to start mine. You definitely need a flat spot to keep it on there though.

Stock paddles fly surprising well but the cyclics were too slow for me so I got super stubz

Also running 710's- Radix (non SB). I tried my 690 MS night blades that I have from my 60...they are flyable and still pretty fun but the 710's have more pop and more punch on full-power climbouts.

oh one other thing, make sure you grind a flat spot on the start shaft if you're going to use a coupling. enjoy it!
